The project was made by 3LHD architects from Zagreb and for sure among top five offices in the country. The bridge was made as the honor for Croatian defenders during the Serbian agression on Croatia 1991-1995. It's modern line helps the passengers to cross over Mrtvi kanal (Dead channel) and the spot is wonderful because of the open view on Sušak and Trsat. Most hrvatskih branitelja iz Domovinskog rata malen je, ali vrlo skladno oblikovan čelični most, dugačak 48 m.Hodna ploha (gazište) mosta izgrađena je od rebraste ploče od slitine aluminija i magnezija. Ograda je staklena,(oblikovana ogradea mosta je hrvatski pleter - prepoznatljivi povijesni geometrijski ornament Hrvatske i njenog kulturnog kruga) s drvenim rukohvatima s jedne i druge strane, u kojima je skriven svjetlovod. Na lijevoj je obali spomen-obilježje što se sastoji od dvaju armiranobetonskih plosnatih stupova visine 7,5 m, obloženih aluminijskim profilima lima kao i na hodnim plohama, a uz stupove je i mjesto za polaganje cvijeća i paljenje svijeća. Projekt je izradio arhitektonski studio 3LHD iz Zagreba Autori Juraj Šekulja, Marin Franolić, Vladi Bralić i Zvonimir Kamenar u suradnji sa Silvanom Mrakom. Most je svečano otvoren 21. prosinca 2001g.(spomenik dignut na sjećanje poginulim braniteljima). Izgradnja mosta koštala je 1 500 000 €

Posebno je atraktivan noću kada se uključi rasvjeta i na njemu se turisti i gosti iz cijeloga svijeta rado fotografiraju pa se fotografije mosta (i s mostom) mogu vidjeti u svim dijelovima svijeta. Just a bridge. A modern looking artistic bridge over the disgusting river Rječina.
