Early Christian Basilica — Attraction in Paphos Municipality

The long religious use of the larger underground site called Toumballos is highlighted by the construction of an early Christian basilica church on top of it.

The apse of the church can be appreciated protruding into the vestibule south of the first circular chamber of the Hellenistic underground complex. There is also an apsidal niche carved on the rock face at surface level (not the underground circular chamber) North of the apse. It might have been part of a chapel or sacristy for the basilica.
