Minas tavern — Restaurant in Paphos Municipality

Not sure why these reviews are so positive. I don't like to criticise local business but maybe this restaurant was having a bad day and it was a one off.

Attended and there was no one to seat us. Took a seat and eventually the waiter comes out and puts the menu's on the table with no communication. No hello or anything. Ordered drinks and asked for straws but he forgot.

I questioned what the Meze came with and was told it came with everything listed on the Meze menu for €20 each. So I decided to order for two. Meze is meant to come with pork kebab, sheftalia, chicken, sausages, cutlets and lamb chops. Frustratingly, they didn't bring any Sheftalies or lamp chops even though they promised it and the menu states it.

Missing food that you are charged for is not a good start. Overall, I thought the portions were small and the Meze was very underwhelming but then again they missed out two meat components.

I wanted to address it with the staff but unfortunately I could not seem to catch their attention. After waiting for ages, I just thought that I would pay up and go.

As for quality both chicken and pork were completely bland

We had chosen Minas tavern because of high ratings. The restaurant is lo aged a bit a side from most other on seaside. All the tables were located outside under the tree which gave a shadow. The menu is shirt with local dishes, some starters and meat dishes in a grill, there are some fresh fish in a fridge inside but it doesn't look so fresh. So I advice to be on a safe side and take a meat. We ordered "meze", 20 euros per person. We got some starters including olives, tzaziki, Greek salad with 2 tiny pieces of feta ( such a shame), tahini, 2 pieces of halumi. For a main dish we got kebab (delicious), local sausage ( tasty to me, but my mom didn't like, for sausage lovers), pork. And only in 15 min when we ate every thing anw were full, got also lamb ribs (ok, not the best one), chicken (good) and chips! No drinks and desert included. The service is slow but pleasant. Both my wife and I ordered “lamb chops”. We got 3 chops each. We were astonished by the small portion. Each lamp chop had meat on it of approximately 2 fingernails (without the fat). I regret, not taking a picture. You must see it to believe it!

Of course, we could not fill out stomachs with this meal. Therefore, we went home hungrily and eat some cereals (should I laugh or cry when writing these lines?)

I would be very much interested if this is the normal size or the both of us were an exception. And no, we are not feeders or sth. like that but average weighed people 😊

Hopefully the other meals are bigger. We will never know as we are going to avoid this place in the future. I wish that other people won’t make the same...
