my sister was briefly in this hospital for an epilepsy checkup and her experience hasn’t been the best… she stayed there for 48h, which already in itself was stressful (she was hooked to cables and on camera at all times—which is normal for this type of checkup but doesn’t change the fact that it was still stressful) on top of that the doctors were not only unprofessional but also rude. The nurses were absolutely lovely and made her stay much better (especially the night shift ones) which is why i gave this institution 2 stars (the nurses themselves deserve 5 but because of the doctors it’s simply not possible) i would like to thank them for that, however i also need to mention the doctors. The first doctor would interrogate her intensely almost as if he was trying to get her to admit that she is faking it (which she is not. her epilepsy journey has been a long and tough one and i really don’t appreciate any medical professional questioning it, especially since she was there only for a checkup—per her new doctors request— as she only recently moved to this country (her new doctor wasn’t doing the tests at this clinic but would later check the results). he also didn’t understand the type of seizures she was experiencing and was in general not pleasant to be around. i understand that he might have had a bad day, however part of being a doctor that interacts with patients is to have some bedside manners. And i would also expect a neurologist to know about different types of seizures… After talking to him she texted our family group chat saying that “the conversation felt as if he was trying to get me to have a seizure”. it was her attempt at making light of the situation but i could tell the interaction had a big negative impact on her. the next day, turns out she did have a seizure the evening before (because of all the stress). Sadly her bad experience didn’t end there. the next day a new doctor showed up and told her that he doesn’t know why she was there. he said that he read her chart but still didn’t understand why. i feel like if a doctor doesn’t know why a patient was referred by a medical professional from the same field to do some tests, if he has any questions he should call that doctor instead of asking the patient. But since my sister is very kind she politely answered that her new doctor asked her to do them again just for a check up, she also wanted to have a closer look at one of the tests that showed previously that my sister experiences intense emotions. then my sister added that she has autism so that was probably the reason why the test showed big spikes in her emotions. and now comes the part that aggravates me the most: that second doctor looks at her and tells her “mild autism”… (with a very judgy look) as if he was correcting her that her literal disability isn’t disabling… mind you, her medical chart states that apart from epilepsy she also has autism and adhd. i can not imagine how a human like this could be a doctor that works with patients? Having any type of disability is hard, but having an invisible one is especially difficult because a lot of people don’t believe you—if they can’t see it they refuse to believe it. This type of behavior from someone that went to med school and actually got a job in that field, is simply unacceptable. my sister called me and i could hear the tears in her eyes and my heart just broke a little. this should have never happen and i really do hope that this institution changes their hiring criteria or at least sends their doctors to trainings to educate them on invisible disabilities and how to talk to patients. i could write much more about this horrendous experience however there is a word limit. i hope that if someone reads this, some changes will be implemented. No one should be questioned about their disability especially when it’s not relevant in that context. Medical professionals should be a safe space for patients. Women should be believed. changed my mind,...
Read moreIt is a nice hospital, modern equipment. The doctors are kind and professional and all speak English. The nurses are very kind too.
BUT...
They lie - often. They say one thing than they say another. My friend's doctor told her the operation went well and that she has got rid of the cancer for good. He said chemotherapy is coming next. Two weeks later he says that he did no remove it all and that now radiation therapy is the next step. By projecting insecurity, instead of making the patients hopeful they make them desperate. When it happens so often at some point you start questioning their integrity.
They say and promise things just to get rid of you and do not live up to their word. My friend had 1/2 of her land removed and two days later she was supposed to go to an appointment in another part of the hospital. As you know this place is huge. I told the nurses that she can't walk and they said they will use a wheelchair and take care of her. When the time came no one moved a finger and there was no wheelchair ....nothing. My friend operated two days ago, carrying a box with bloody liquid coming out of her had to walk to the other department using elevators crowded with people ...she could barely stand. This is not human and far from ok.
The coordination between the departments is a tragedy. They overlap bookings. They keep on calling my friend for tests and examinations and some of the appointments were cancelled the moment we were there - imagine this very very sick person had to travel in vain. This is not ok.
My friend with three operations was sent home finally and a huge inflammation appeared so they had to take her back in the hospital. Then they prescribed to her penicillin and in all her documents is stated that she is allergic.
Twice came an interpreter that does not speak the language at all and was sent by mistake. They signed her papers so she could take her money although she did not translate one word. Why? Why are they motivating people like her to register fake skills and lie and cheat further.
The food for the patients is raw sometimes and sometimes there is no enough for all patients because many of the visitors eat too. This is not a free buffet...!!!
The cleaning of the the patients' rooms and corridors is not good. They clean the dust with dry mops and brooms which just spreads the dust even more. I visited a sick friend of mine for a week and the same grains of rice were standing in the same corner in the corridor all these days.
People from the outside world with dirty clothes and hands are sitting in the same spaces where the newly operated people are supposed to eat and drink. Don't you think this...
Read moreWe were so lucky winding up at this hospital! We were traveling from NY and our daughter had an accident. We went directly to this hospital and they sent us to the trauma center. We had an amazing doctor from pediatrics meet us and wound up stitching our daughter's head. I wanted a plastic surgeon but the doctor assured me that she is specializing in plastic surgery and just returned from a micro surgery class at Columbia University! That's all we needed to hear. The nurses were so wonderful and the doctor was a miracle that showed up. I have taken our daughter to the pediatrician to remove the stitches and he complemented her work up and down, the dermatologist said she did an amazing job and just to be sure all was well, i took her to a New York City plastic surgeon. He could not get over the amazing job she had done. Dr Trina was amazing and she will be a fantastic...
