The Artisan Copenhagen — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

I walked a mile to this place because it was so highly rated and it didn’t disappoint.

When ordering an expresso, they asked medium or dark, which is unusual in my experience. Normally I would go with a medium to avoid the risk of over-roasting but after talking to the barista took the risk.

The shot arrived with an aroma of tobacco, honey. The flavor is direct and strong but finishes clean leaving a light pallet of tobacco and chocolate.

Truly a unique coffee experience for a dark roast. This is so difficult to do and I have only had one other roast from Perc in Savannah GA that manages this so well. But this one was so much more with an additional overlay of sophisticated flavor.

It was so good I tried the medium roast. It had a floral note of honeysuckle and finished more sharply with a strong citrus palette.

In a world full of coffee shops, it’s hard to stand out. This one does. I’ve had thousands of expressos over my lifetime.

Both stood out, but the dark roast was the one that stands out for me as one of the best expressos...

I stopped by The Artisan after I had heard many good things from friends and social media. The Artisan 100% lived up to the positive reviews and even exceeded my expectations. The staff was extremely friendly, very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about coffee and everything they do. There is a wide selection of drinks to choose from, many of which are quite unique and not the kind of drink selection you can easily find in other places. The coffee I had was delicious. There are options for different milks which caters to anyone with special dietary needs/different personal preferences. I also had a pot of tea which was high quality and tasted great. The fact that this coffee shop sits right by the lakes is just the cherry on top! The interior is very well designed and comfortable. With both comfortable chairs, sofas or bar stools to sit on, the Artisan becomes the perfect spot for whether you want to study, work, or just relax by yourself or with friends. I will definitely be back! I highly recommend...

The venue doesn't deserve the massive hype in my view because:

1. murderously overpriced. Ok I naively thought a filter coffee there would be the same as everywhere else. But they serve special ones. They didn't specify when I visited. So I got the filter, and a b&b bun: 83kr! What a rip off The filter was watery. Obviously this is personal taste, but the staff wasn't particularly helpful in recommending me one. They assumed I knew what I wanted. How can I possibly know about coffee blends I never heard about?. Customer experience is so-so at times.
2. not much seating and -but that's because of its popularity - tends to be chaotic and noisy. Which is ok if you are with friends! For a bit of pace and quiet, better head off to...
