This is a nice beach as far as beaches go. There are a LOT of nearby shop vendors that one should be able to grab anything that one might need (snorkels, sandals, swimsuits, etc), as well as trinkets, toys and dozens and dozens of food shops. The selection of food items isn't that broad, but there are several options available (just dont go in hoping for Asian or Mexican foods). The first time I went, it was PACKED! I was told that Sundays are like Dominican family day so packed beaches should be expected on that day. The beach isn't very long, so it's possible to walk the length of it easily. It's easy to get lawn seating with umbrellas and even tables and food service right on the water. I think I paid 600 pesos for this on a Sunday.

We drove here >30 minutes from Punta Plata for snorkelling but got very disappointed. Just an ordinary, mile-long sand beach - with some rocky portions at the shoreline towards one and. No underwater action worth mentioning, not even close to the rocks towards the end. There are apparently several people selling us "snorkeling trips" but that wasn't an option for us - we were looking for snorkeling at / around the beach, not from a boat. Otherwise just your regular strings of shops, bars and restaurants, people trying to pull you in. Not pushy or annoying, just tiresome to keep saying "No, gracias" at each 10 meters..

This is my favorite beach on the island. You can do everything here! If you are looking for nice food, you have plenty of options. If you are just looking for a place to have drinks and enjoy the view, lots of options. This is a great place for scuba diving, swimming, snorkeling, laying out, etc. Sosua Bay has a lovely view of Mt Isabella in Puerto Plata, and you can also watch the planes come and go from POP airport. It’s great for kids as there’s rarely large waves. Great for animals. Everyone is super friendly. If you go towards the middle of the beach or towards Charimicos, you won’t be inundated with vendors.

Sosua beach is one of my favorite beaches in the entire island. During the week it seems super big because there are not many people but during the weekends every body look like ants! Sord of like this famous beach in Brazil! Copacabana! Hahaha...Here you enjoy great fried fish with tostones and have a nice swim in its turquoise waters! Around a year ago there have been some changes in the sand and some rocks have come out though right in the middle of Sosua beach. A lot of people are visiting Playa Alicia due to this sand movement.

Calm clean water, small coral reef with plenty of reef fish, lots of small Cafe's/restaurants around, as well as showers on the beach. You can rent a snorkeling set or SUP, ride "glass bottom" boat (which I wouldn't recommend), or do any of the other water activities. If you are not staying locally, you have to park on the road and then cross it to get down to the beach, which can be tricky at times due to the local traffic. Overall, nice beach to chill, very kids friendly.
