I have to change my review from 4 years ago. It started innocently. I ordered peach salad because it had candied walnuts. I love them. The salad came without the candied walnuts (after a long wait). I asked the waiter why it was missing. He went to ask the chef and came back saying that they don’t have them. I asked to speak to the manager. The supervisor came. I asked her for her business card because she had no name tag. She said she will give it to me. Then, I tried to explain to her that if they don’t have an ingredient in the dish, they should mention it before I ordered it. She had trouble following me, so I asked her to speak with the waiter and to still bring me her business card (she did not). She said that the salad would be free. Then we waited 1.5 hours for paella. They probably did it from scratch. Again, mention it to the patrons upfront. The paella was ok except for the sand that was left on my teeth. I did not want to ruin my date’s day even more, so I kept quiet about it. When the bill came, the salad was still in there. I asked the waiter about it, and he remove it. After I paid with the card, I ask the supervisor again for the business card. She said that the office was closed. I asked for her name, and she said Maria. On the bill, for the tip, I wrote “terrible”. When the waiter saw it, he ran after us for some reason complaining to my date in Spanish instead of me. When I confronted him, with the menacing face, he asked whether his service was terrible. I said yes it was, and I will give a full review about it, so he can read it. He repeated “thank you” like 12 times. I thought he might take a swing at me. Not sure how they can mis-manage the place so badly. My date has made a mistake and ordered shrimp for both appetizer and main course. She asked the waiter to change her order, and he said no. I asked him if he can at least check with the kitchen if they had not started cooking it yet because the restaurant was busy, and it took them at least 15 minutes even to take our order. He checked and said, that no, it cannot be changed, because they have started something already. Then the manager was making her rounds and asked whether everything was ok. I explained the situation, and it turns out there is no problem changing an order. It would be nice if our waiter knew that. Also, the balsamic vinegar that I asked for my caprese salad, was just way past its expiration date, and smelled awful. But the schnitzel of my main course was very good.

This is the second time we had been at this location. The first time was in 2019 and it was good overall. This year, 2022, the restaurant has left us with a bittersweet experience, mostly because the price does not reflect the food taste and quality. Also, I have to pay extra to use the umbrella and chairs in the beach area. There was sign in English stating that the umbrellas are free if you are consuming in this location. We spent over 8k Dominican pesos but the waiter told us that sign applies only in the "beach area" and we have to pay extra for it. I remember it was free back in 2019, or at least that's what they told us back then. We decided to go ahead and pay anyway for the umbrella and the chairs since my wife wanted to experience the clear beautiful beach water. That was an additional 300 for an umbrella and 200 for each chair. The waitress person was nice but the prices of the drinks were ridiculous. We ordered 2 16 oz President beers and a 12 oz frozen Margarita for a total of 925 Dominican pesos. We regretted spending the time and money in this location. We will be back in Sosua but not at this place.

There is exquisitely fine dining at this restaurant. The chef and staff, possibly the best in Sosua, will provision you to a supreme, skillfully prepared feast served with exceptionally select wines and beverages. The desserts are handcrafted on site and are distinctively gratifying. The views from the veranda terrace are superb. Overlooking Playa Alicia and Mt. Isabella in the distance (I personally recommend a sunset banquet for your pleasure). Afterwards, for a modest premium, a selection of cigars are available for your indulgence thereafter your fare. We enjoy this establishment very much and encourage others to as well. Very clean, nice place next to Playa Alicia. Dine or enjoy cocktails on the open air deck overlooking the beach or from within the very airy tiki thatched roof restaurant bar. It has a very open floor plan that is inviting to all guests. The quaint bungalows are next to the restaurant out of sight from the street. Very cool and calming environment to reside during your stay in Sosua. Extremely quiet and with 24 hour CCTV surveillance.

We have been to Waterfront several times and it has always been a good experience. We were still looking for a place for Christmas dinner, so we booked a table for Christmas dinner. The price was $50 USD per person. We paid in advance and were looking forward to a nice dinner. Finally, the evening arrived. First we had to wait in a long line with all the other people who had not prepaid like us, and we had to wait until they all paid, etc. I think we waited 30 minutes before we were allowed to enter. then we got a really bad table (even though the person we bought the tickets from promised to give us a very good table), it was on the aisle and had NO ocean view. it was right under the buffet, the chairs were really bad too, but the waiters changed them when we told them. Also another woman tripped on the stairs and fell down when the buffet started. The staff was very quick to help her but that was not a very nice experience either, maybe they should mark the stairs so people can see them better. The food at the buffet was ok, the description of the food was missing so we didn't really know what it was (I am allergic to pork so I would like to know if pork is included or not). So I only took things that I was sure what the ingredients were. Also, there was no dessert??? Anyway, I was really full from the main dishes, but I would have liked the OPPORTUNITY to have dessert if I wanted. So my summary: I would not go to a buffet again because the overall experience was very disappointing and not...
