We went the other day, most of the day was perfect beach weather until the late afternoon when a storm rolled in. Lots of locals were enjoying this beach, possibly due to the time of year right now (lack of tourists/cruises). However, I think that's a great sign for a wonderful beach! Bring dominican pesos in cash, the food, drinks, parking, chair, table and umbrella rentals all require cash -- they don't take card. There was parking, but get there early in the day to get a spot because it is limited. We arrived around 10 a.m. There is a guy there assisting with the parking. We paid 150 dominican pesos for our spot and there's no time limit for the spot so enjoy it all day! It was good peace of mind to know there was someone at the parking lot all day watching. We rented two chairs and one umbrella, which was 700 dominican pesos -- again unlimited time we left around 4 p.m. You can rent small side table(s) as well, unsure of that price but I'm sure it's less than 500 dominican pesos per table. They have staff who walk around with menus for drinks and food for the Waterfront restaurant, and the staff will bring your food directly to you at your chair. Lots of different options, nothing much for vegan or vegetarian diets. However, the Flip Flop bar delivers to the parking lot, which offers veg friendly food. I ordered the vegan chimichanga from Flip Flop, and it was 470 dominican pesos, which came with a side of rice and black beans. A good portion of food. Presidente lights were 220 dominican pesos each and delivered straight to your chair from the Waterfront bar. We tipped well because the service was amazing! Additionally, free wifi offered via the Waterfront restaurant/bar. Strong connection and had no issues with disconnections from the wifi. A great way to spend the day sunbathing, listening to music, reading a book and taking a dip in the water. Although, the waves were large due to tropical storm Franklin a few days ago, it was possible to get in and enjoy the moving water. A nice breeze all day to keep you cool enough to not be miserable too. We are returning tomorrow. Resort style service without the...
Read moreNot sure if anyone else has mentioned this but there is a steep drop-off and undercurrent and rip tides run rampant all over. I would NOT recommend going here with your children. I am a strong swimmer and got stuck halfway across to fight the rip tides back in and almost gave up and drowned. No proper lifeguard shacks and jet ski rescue should be here, but of course, it's not spent. Beautiful beach and views except trash all over but that's the norm, just take money. As soon as you walk down the step, people are only concerned about selling you a chair, umbrella combo. Hey, how about the unsafe beach conditions. I wonder how many people die there each year,...
Read moreNice tranquil beach in a bay. After a storm the waves get really high which was fun for our kids who loved jumping them. Not ok for surfing, as there is only one wave right before it hits the coast. Not a very busy beach which we loved but there are about 2/3 restaurants which serve food and drinks right there on the beach which is nice. Prices are ok. Be sure to take cash because only one restaurant takes cards and that’s the most expensive restaurant. (If you didn’t bring cash there is an ATM nearby) We went with restaurant Steven and got reasonable priced food. The portions were good. We would definitely recommend...
