So how much you like this beach is going to depend on how much you like interacting with strangers. There are a bunch or folks offering several services from beach side waiters that will get you chairs, umbrellas, food, and drinks. Then there are women walking around offering messages and pedicures which are kinda pushy but nice. Pushy as in polite "no thank you's" will be ignored and they'll give you "a free sample and if you don't like it they'll walk away." So if you don't want one you'll have to be very firm. Went with a group, wife and I got a massage and pedicure, standard fair, some others didn't. There are people walking around offering various seafood shrimp, oysters and the like. It's a fairly crowded beach so if you want to avoid the crowds and hassle playa Alicia or Alicia beach will be a better visit. Less of all the above. Beach itself is clean and water is calm enough for small children and animals to swim in without immediate area supervision. Though there are a few boats in the area, none of which where driving reckless so as always use best judgment. If you don't like low flying tourist helicopters you also may want to avoid the area as a few will pass on occasion. Roughly two in our five hour visit for five...

Nice beach. Beautiful, clear water. I didn't like that things were overpriced and the sellers at the beach were relentless. Good service from the guys with the umbrellas. As soon as you get there, DO NOT take up any of the guys offering you "the best spot" as you walk towards the beach. They'll place you way far from the actual beach and charge you the same or more. Find your spot that you want and then the owner of those umbrellas will come to you. The other things I didn't like was that the beach has little waves (which is good) but a STRONG current so if you have little kids, BE VERY CAREFUL... mine got pulled in so I had to run from my chair and jump in the beach to rescue my son. Lastly, there is a "bathroom/shower" place that charges 25 pesos to allow you to shower but then when you leave, you gotta walk through the sand anyways so... kind of...

This is an absolutely beautiful beach to go to and have a great fun-filled day with your family and friends. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was you got to watch out for price gouging on the menus. More specifically you order an item off the menu then when you get your bill the price will be gouged. Easy fix though. Take a picture of the menu and then compare that to your bill at the end of the day and don't buy into the whole 18% tax 10% tip routine that's a scam. Stand your ground and stop a lot of the servers from cheating you and everybody after you. One more thing there's a reef right off the coast you can swim out to and has the most beautiful fish you've ever seen. Look for the red lifeguard stand on the beach and swim out about 100...

Playa Sosua is the most beautiful scenery specially during morning hours when the Sun Light is in favor of the view towards Puerto Plata and it's gorgeous mountain chain behind the Bay !!! Or the evening to enjoy the Sunset, happening behind the "Isabel de Torres" mountain of Puerto Plata, " Isabel de Torres " Is 799 meters above sea level at highest point, it features a cable car that takes you to the Top, and a Lush Tropical Botanical Garden with beautiful to enjoy walk paths through its exhibition of Local Plants and Roman type Fountains with Victorian Gazebos... Some gift shops in the Christ figure Base building as well as a Restaurant for exceptional local or international meals !!! Also great if you take family and Picnic Baskets and Blankets...

Just off the main road going into Sosa from Puerto Plata. Miguel is our man there (Speaks very good English). As we sat on the beach Miguel took care of all our needs, and at a good price. Thank you Miguel. He had the most wonderful chicken skewers all organic and perfectly seasoned, washed down by an ice cold Bohemia Grande great job Miguel. Also Mofongo King (rated in the top 5 restaurants in sosua), this place was recommended to us by my parents and they did not disappoint. I had the chicken cordon bleu my wife a wonderful sea bass marinated in a mushroom sauce, oh yes it tastes as good as it sounds. Also to note at Mofongo King the manager, (Danny, also speaks very good English), was amazing. Even keeping his kitchen open late for us.

This is my 3rd time visiting this beach. The beach is beautiful! The view is breathtaking. Seeing the mountains at a distance while looking out at the water feels like a dream for this Florida girl. Or maybe, it's just the mountains that I am not used to. The people there cater to you, bringing you your lunch and desired drinks while you lay back under an umbrella. There's so much to do, ride on a float while a boat pulls you into the distant waters, snorkeling, going on a boat and watching the sea creatures swim under your feet. All types of things to do, foods to try, and great adventures to embark on while relaxing on such a beautiful beach. You will not regret it.
