Contemporary Art Center of Quito — Attraction in San Juan

This is a beautiful neo classical building which was restored to function as a center of contemporary art in Quito. Unfortunately this institution doesn´t work at a level a capital city demands. There are few exhibitions, and few international artists show there. There are not enough artists talks and what is supposed to be a space to approach contemporary art for a wide community -that doesn´t understand and know about contemporary art and art in general-, works as a small scale project showing few projects a year and many of them are not artistic projects but cultural management...

I visited the center today and was thoroughly impressed. The architecture alone is stunning and makes the visit worthwhile. The collection isn’t huge, but I really appreciated what was included. There was a lot of stunning photography, along with some immersive, three dimensional art installations that you could walk into and really feel. I also had the opportunity to meet some of the artists, who were approachable and passionate, making the experience even more enriching. So...

I really enjoyed my visit to this museum. I went in July 2024 and they had four different exhibits going on. I didn't understand one of the exhibits so I went to the front desk and the Man in charge walked back to the exhibit with me and explained everything in detail.
