As a young, solo traveler, I appreciate places that feel like home and give me a sense of community while I'm away. Blue Door does just that. Located near el Centro Histórico, this family-owned hostel offers everything you could possibly need while traveling, and all for a great price. The first time I arrived, in Quito, Alejo had a taxi set up for me at the airport so I didn't have to worry about getting to the hostel at 1:00 am in the morning. From the moment I arrived at Blue Door, I instantly felt at home. I was given suggestions of where to visit and the best way to get there. Within a day, I had made friends with people from all over the globe, and many of these people I still keep in touch with today. The property itself was beautiful and has an old world charm to it. ||||I booked my rooms through Airbnb and interactions with the host Alejandro was extremely pleasant. He always responded quickly and was very accommodating. I messed up by reservations slightly (completely my fault) and even though I offered to pay (I was expecting to pay for it since it was my mistake), he didn't charge me anything extra! Even though I didn't plan any trips with him, I believe Alejandro does arrange trips around Quito and Ecuador!||||Also, if you care, wifi was pretty fast :P ||||A perfect end to my...
