My husband and I stayed here with another couple on a friends trip. We booked two different types of rooms and traded off halfway through. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is very kind, and the view is spectacular. We had a great show for NYE as you can see practically the whole city from the roof.||In particular, James was fantastic. He was very diligent and helpful. He hooked us up with literally anything we needed, gave us tips on how to get around the city, and helped us polish up our Spanish a bit.||Hotel amenities include restaurant with full bar serving breakfast and dinner, laundry service, a wine cave, a private courtyard, a steam room, and a jacuzzi hot tub available to reserve.||Ourfirst room was the presidential suite/#15. Overall it was a beautiful room with an amazing view of the city. The sleeping area is nice with a comfortable bed and sufficient outlets. However, it is in the older section of the building so it may not be the best for all travelers. There is no safe.||There is poor soundproofing. You can hear people in the courtyard, walking in the halls, and on the stairs. The noise from the third floor dining room also spills downstairs.||The space in the entry hallway is not used well. It would be nice if it were more of a sitting room instead of just a place to put on your shoes.||The bathroom is very small. The door does not even oen all the way because it hits the toilet. The stall shower is very small too. I left the doors partly open to keep from bumping into them. The knob on the center shower panel controls where the water comes from. The long handle controls the temperature when turned and turns the water on/off when pulled/pushed.||The jacuzzi tub is in the bedroom. It is large enough for two to sit in relative comfort. To 'activate' the hot water, you need to run the bathroom sink for a couple minutes first. Turn the center knob for hot water from the faucet, left knob for cold, the right knob diverts water to the handheld head. The button turns on the jets and they are intense. It takes a long time to fill all the way but it was a nice experience. To use the plug, make sure the large knob directly above it is turned with the hole in it facing down then push down the plug. Simply turn the knob back up to empty.|This room is in the older part of the building. It is only accessible via stairs and you can not flush toilet paper.||Our second room was a standard/#4:|This room is in the newer part of the building. You can flush toilet paper and it is accessible via stairs or elevator. My husband and I preferred this room. There is less storage but it is enough for an average amount of luggage stored smartly. There is no safe. The decor was more modern with the same local charm. It has a view of the central courtyard.||While the bathroom is more permanently moist, it is also modern, large, and very pretty. There is a hanging rack and good storage for toiletries. Loved the shower! The bathroom door is clear. At some angles other occupants in the bedroom could see you sitting on the toilet.||The bedroom is small for the size bed in it. Still there is a small desk that can flip up or down and a chest to store items. |The room was relatively quiet despite being located by the stairs and elevator. The only other con is that the overhead light does not fully turn off. It sort of looks like glow in...
Read moreThis is an exceptional hotel, and despite only staying for one night it is genuinely one of the most memorable properties I’ve visited. Leading up to the stay the staff effortlessly arranged an airport transfer which was seamless and reasonable value for money. On arriving at the hotel and pulling into the driveway the first thing which strikes is the truly incredible view over the city! This is a real unique selling point and both day and night doesn’t get boring.||The staff member at check in was great, explaining everything about the hotel and even showing me to the room and explaining the features. It’s not your typical style hotel, with a vibe more of staying in someone’s villa, but this works perfectly and adds to the great unique vibe.||The room was brilliant. A large comfortable bed, made with loads of pillows and cushions, charging points and lights at both sides of the bed, a decent amount of storage and information on the hotel and services. It did state the TV only worked with Netflix and there’s also no air-conditioning, but there was a fan supplied. The bathroom was separated with a sliding glass door and was a great space - high end fixtures, spacious shower with multiple jets and nice toiletries. The exposed brickwork and slate tiling throughout worked really well and the traditional ornaments and artwork was superb. A large bottle of filtered water is supplied and they offer refills at reception whenever you need.||On the top floor is the restaurant and terrace. The terrace is a great spot to spend some relaxing time at any hour of the day, but in the evening there are heaters keeping it cosy while you soak up the view. The restaurant has a good amount of seating for different group sizes and is decorated beautifully with lots of traditional touches again. The staff were exceptional and made spending time there so welcoming. In an evening there is a decent sized menu, with everything prepared in the small kitchen by hand freshly. The breakfast offering was exceptional - no buffet here but a fresh plate of local fruit, warm pastries and a hot egg dish prepared to your own liking. All the little touches had been considered including lovely napkin rings and even a telescope in the corner of the restaurant to make the most of the view.||As you’d expect in order to obtain the view, the hotel is at the top of a very steep hill. There are some steps which make it a bit more manageable but walking back from the city centre certainly gets the heart pumping! The location itself is nice and quiet but it’s not too remote from the main sights so was ideal for a first time visit to the city.||I absolutely will be staying here again on any future visit to the city and thanks to the exceptional staff, unique vibe and attention to detail I strongly recommend to...
