If you’re visiting Aswan and want to experience something truly authentic and unforgettable, you absolutely have to go on a tour with Mahmoud! He’s an incredible person — full of energy, positivity, and deep love for his homeland. Being originally from the Nubian Village, he knows every corner, every story, every hidden gem.

With him, we explored the Nubian Village in a way that very few tourists get to. He took us to places only locals know, far from the usual tourist routes. We shared coffee with locals, visited a traditional Nubian home, tasted incredible local dishes, and truly got to understand the culture and way of life.

Mahmoud is extremely friendly and communicative, and he does everything to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The highlight of our tour was watching the sunset from a breathtaking panoramic view — a magical moment I’ll never forget.

We trusted Mahmood for Abu Simbel transfer because he seemed like a good local guy but that turned out to be a big mistake.

At first, he promised us an SUV for the long journey, but at the last minute, the previous night before the tour, he messaged us with an excuse that the driver’s father had a stroke, and said we’d have to go in a smaller, older car instead offering a €15 discount. We were disappointed, but agreed.

The next morning, we started the journey, but just 10 minutes in, the police stopped us and said we didn’t have the proper travel permit. We ended up waiting in the car for an hour trying to sort it out, but in the end, the trip was cancelled entirely. It completely ruined our last day in Aswan.

Mahmood later said the trip wasn’t permitted by the government and sent us a refund, but by then, the damage to our plans and experience had been done.

He may be a nice guy for a local tour, but for trips like Abu Simbel, I would strongly recommend booking through a more professional and established company. I wish I had done the same it would have saved us a lot of stress and...
