El Mina Mosque, or the so-called Heavenly Mosque, is one of the most famous and most beautiful mosques in the governorate of the Red Sea in terms of architecture. Al Mina (or El Mina) Mosque was first built in 1968. However, recently the old building was replaced by a modern one. The construction of the new building started in 2006. In comparison, the government officially opened this new building in 2012, and it can accommodate 9000-10000 worshipers. The beautiful mosque is located in the heart of Hurghada, right next to Hurghada Marina and the Hurghada Shipyard. The Mosque was built out of pure white marble. This impressive building has two magnificent minarets, each about 40-metres high. Also, the facades of the building are decorated with traditional, oriental ornaments and carvings. The interior of the mosque is magnificent, the inner hall is richly decorated, with magnificent chandeliers hanging elegantly from the ceiling, complex arches, carved and engraved walls and a dome 25 meters high. It is open for visitors daily from 9.00-17.00 (except the praying times). The entrance is free.

During my holiday in Hurghada, I had the opportunity to visit Al Mina Mosque to pray the Dhuhr prayer, and it was an unforgettable experience. The mosque itself is an architectural marvel, blending historical significance with stunning design. The building is massive, with intricate details that highlight its rich cultural heritage. The peaceful atmosphere inside made it an ideal place for reflection and prayer, offering a sense of tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere. The outer structures surrounding the mosque are just as impressive. The courtyards and surrounding buildings add to the sense of grandeur and historical importance of the site. Whether you're visiting for prayer or simply to admire the beauty and history, Al Mina Mosque is a must-see destination in Hurghada. The peacefulness and beauty of this mosque truly make it a spiritual haven. If you're in Hurghada, I highly recommend visiting—it’s an enriching experience that combines history, culture, and serenity.

Spending the evening in Hurghada was a perfect way to wind down. The city feels much calmer at night, with a nice mix of local charm and coastal beauty. I stopped by the Al Mina Mosque, which looked beautiful under the soft lights—its architecture really stood out in the quiet of the night. I also wandered through the Fishmarket, where the evening hustle added a bit of character. It’s not too busy, but there’s still a lively atmosphere, and you can watch the fresh seafood being brought in. The Marina at night was probably the most relaxing part. The boats were gently swaying, and the area was peaceful with cafes lining the waterfront. It was a great spot to enjoy the evening breeze and take in the view. A perfect, low-key way to enjoy Hurghada at night.

I was in Hurghada for a family beach resort holiday. I decided to go for Jumu'ah (Friday) prayers at El Mina mosque. Both inside and out are absolutely amazing.

The outside has a big open courtyard where you can grab great views and photos of the beautiful domes and minarets. On the inside the architecture and design are breathtaking, such incredible detail!

The adhan (call to prayer) was the best adhan I have ever heard in my life. The khutbah (sermon) was entirely in Arabic so I did not understand but the imam spoke with such passion that I was completely engaged. The prayers that followed the khutbah felt so nice standing brother to brother in large numbers in such a beautiful mosque; it was an enhanced spiritual experience.

For non-Muslims visiting, try to visit between prayers so that you can go inside. You will be warmly welcomed as long as you are modestly dressed. You will be allowed to take lots of photos and videos inside.

If you’re in Hurghada this is a...
