El Mina Mosque, or the so-called Heavenly Mosque, is one of the most famous and most beautiful mosques in the governorate of the Red Sea in terms of architecture. Al Mina (or El Mina) Mosque was first built in 1968. However, recently the old building was replaced by a modern one. The construction of the new building started in 2006. In comparison, the government officially opened this new building in 2012, and it can accommodate 9000-10000 worshipers. The beautiful mosque is located in the heart of Hurghada, right next to Hurghada Marina and the Hurghada Shipyard. Read moreI was in Hurghada for a family beach resort holiday. I decided to go for Jumu'ah (Friday) prayers at El Mina mosque. Both inside and out are absolutely amazing.
The outside has a big open courtyard where you can grab great views and photos of the beautiful domes and minarets. On the inside the architecture and design are breathtaking, such incredible detail!

For non-Muslims visiting, try to visit between prayers so that you can go inside. You will be warmly welcomed as long as you are modestly dressed. You will be allowed to take lots of photos and videos inside.
If you’re in Hurghada this is a...
