An extremely beautiful place to enjoy. Located in the center of Hurghada, the marina includes a generous boardwalk with a number of restaurants, shops, some fun activities, tour operators. This amazing sea view boulevard is located next to the Sheraton Road, which is the main street in the area called Sakala. Opened in 2008, it is centered on a harbor with 200 berths and bounded by Marina Boulevard, a beautiful promenade surrounded by palm trees, parks and ochre-colored shops and apartment blocks. The marina boasts an abundance of shopping, dining and entertainment options. Most boat trips on the Red Sea depart from the marina. Options range from snorkeling trips to the Giftun Islands, then glass bottom tours, submarine tours and dolphin watching. There are also opportunities to use water sports and numerous diving trips. The marina is a common starting point for desert safaris and is also part of many Hurghada city tours, which usually include time for shopping and sightseeing. Other popular activities at the marina include 1001 Arabian Nights themed shows and dinner and shore transfer packages. In the marina, it is possible to find dozens of nice restaurants and bars, where is possible eat and drink, such as Grill & Chill, The Heaven, Che Guevara, Mr Greek, Stone Restaurant & Bar, Red Dragon and others. Most of the restaurants in Hurghada Marina have a terrace, so it is possible to sit inside or outside. The marina is located close to El Mina Mosque. Read moreI visited Egypt – specifically Hurghada – in April 2025, expecting a relaxing and culturally enriching holiday. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing on many levels, and I feel a responsibility to warn fellow travelers.
From the moment I arrived, I was met with persistent, aggressive, and often disrespectful behavior – from Vendors and taxi drivers to even airport staff. Professionalism and basic courtesy towards tourists were sorely lacking.
A serious turning point occurred at the “Blue Beach Club” in the Marina area, where I stepped on broken glass in the water and suffered deep injuries to both feet. There was absolutely no first aid available on-site. I had to go to the hospital on my own and pay €300 out of pocket. No apology. No assistance. I spent the rest of my vacation confined to my hotel room, unable to join any planned activities.
Even more shocking was the extreme social inequality. While tourists pay entrance fees to beaches equivalent to a full week’s wages for a local worker, many Egyptians live in poverty and without basic labor protections. Many beach areas are treated like private property by groups that operate in a mafia-like fashion, demanding entrance fees for public access.
Additionally, the streets are filled with thousands of stray dogs and cats, many of whom are mistreated or neglected in heartbreaking ways.
Overall, I did not feel welcome as a human being – only seen as a source of money. Safety, respect, and decency seemed to matter little.
Hurghada has natural beauty and potential, but until there are real changes in infrastructure, social standards, and human treatment, I cannot recommend Egypt as a travel...
