ElHalaka fish & sea food restaurant experience is great. We chose to sit downstairs.. very friendly atmosphere .. families and adults, single persons or groups.. clean place with granite surface tables and comfortable chairs , we were immediately given the menu to get an idea then went to the stand with all the fresh fish and sea food..We were 5 adults and chose different things; a big Nagel fish to be cut into filets, half grilled and half fried .. excellent flavor.. another Sherifa fish to be cooked (Singary) ie open without fish bone, fried shrimps and mussels cooked with vegetables..Salads were excellent ; Tahina, Baba ghanouj, small black aubergines stuffed with garlic and tomatoes with cumen & garlic.. plus mixed green salad with onions..Sea food soup (extra) ordered by one of us was excellent.. Someone ordered shrimp molokheya and with a whole jug of minted lemonade were given complimentary.. Their hot freshly baked bread was irresistible.. Brown rice with herbs & onions was also delicious.. The most important thing is that after the big meal everyone felt filled but without indigestion or any ill feelings. We even took some left over food along.Waiters were excellent and service was fast with the food hot and delicious.. It’s not my first time in it.. last time I came was March 2021.. I’m glad i recommended it to my family and everyone had a good meal.. I recommend this restaurant to those who like good fish and sea food. I didn’t know they’re on tripadvisor but thought to find out and write a well...
Read moreBE WARE! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! I don’t know how this place has good reviews when they simply try to rob their customers. I just had dinner there. I am Egyptian and my husband and mother are white American. We ordered our food. The menu was in English and the prices were reasonable. WHEN THE CHECK CAME I WAS SHOCKED. They added things we did not order. For example: we ordered the seafood meal which comes with a mix of sea food and soup and salad. It literally says SALAD. In ENGLISH. The waiter asked me what kind of salad I wanted and I said Greek. The bill came and I saw they charged me EXTRA for a salad. I said what is this? It’s part of the meal and I showed him the menu as it says “salad”. The manager explained “salad” means “tahini” in Arabic. I said that was sneaky and not clear. Plus the waiter asked me what type of salad I wanted after I ordered the seafood meal. Also I was CHARGED FOR THE BREAD AND LEMONS that they put on the table. I didn’t ask for those items but they were brought out with my food. So I figured it was part of the meal. In the end we argued and the manager was not apologetic for the misunderstanding . He brought out stacks and receipts and said this is how we charge everyone. I said I don’t care how many other people you robbed today you won’t rob me. I took off the price of the bread and salad from my tab. He said it’s fine. And we walked out. I am on a 14 day trip. I’ve been to Cairo and Aswan and Luxor and I have not had any restaurant do this! I WOULD NEVER COME...
Read moreWe came there at lunchtime and ordered 1 VIP menu, 1 kid menu and 1 bottle of lemon juice. I have to say the lemon juice is fresh and very recommended. The food of kid menu was good but they didn’t bring drink of the menu for us . But the food of VIP was nothing to be considered as VIP. It was not fresh and so salty for me. Also in the menu it said about crab salad but actually they brought us a grill crab that was not fresh and delicious at all. I don’t recommend this menu if you like fresh seafood.
The total bill with tax was about 787 EGP. We don’t have enough money in EGP and I gave them 20 Euro ( equivalent to 1052 EGP - bank rates was 1 Euro for 52 EGP) . He said ok and told there was no service charge in the bill so he would take all as service charge.
I was so surprised. I asked him about the exchange rate and he said 1 Euro = 46 EGP. So our meal 786 = 17 Euro and the rest was service charge. 😩😫
I was not happy about that service: lack of food in the menu asked 2 times for a bowl to share soup with my husband but I never came.
I also asked him about the drink of the kid menu and he said I could take the 500ml water bottle on the table (15 EGP - menu price).
You still can come to this restaurant because maybe you are lucky than me about your selection of menu will come with good food as many other recommendations from other people.
But I recommend you to pay them in EGP or they will charge you 25% extra of exchange rate.
My meal was around 15 Euro but they...
