This pictoresque park near Helsinki city centre hosts the biggest 1st of May (vappu in Finnish) celebrations in the country every year. The park is filled by thousands of Finns with their picnic blankets, tables, tents and balloons. Many are traditionally wearing their black-and-white student caps and meeting old friends while sipping sparkling wine and eating homemade donuts. A nice place for a simple pic-nic. The scenery is beautiful in this part of Helsinki and you will have an excellent view from the top of the hill. Because of this, the park is always busy. But please don't let that stop you from walking around and enjoying it. There is quite a lot of rubbish in the area and glass pieces can be found(i found remnants of a beer bottle in the southern part of the park) For families there are play areas which the kids will enjoy and next to the largest park is a nice turf to lie...
