Looks great but when you scratch the surface, some issues appear. We stayed at the intercontinental for 2 nights, and got an upgraded room, which was nice. The hotel, lobby and rooms look great, very posh and plush, and it's located in a prime location in Bordeaux. However, some issues: light switches are small and spread out across the rooms so not always clear which switch controls what lights. Bathroom: the shower leaks water which makes the tiles floor slippery and has damaged the door frame to the toilet. Towels are changed twice daily, regardless whether you leave them hanging up to indicate you want to use them again - seems like the environmental policy card is just for show. Anything empty left lying around, eg an empty water bottle is taken away - reception offered to rinse out a empty orange juice bottle as a replacement... no thanks. We asked for a lighter duvet or a blanket, as the original duvet was a bit too warm. Reception ensured us it would be taken care of, but unfortunately it wasn't. We weren't offered a choice of beds, eg twins or king etc. Maybe that was because all rooms have the same beds. The stairs up to the roof terrace were badly lit and quite steep. Don't get me wrong, is a great hotel with great staff in a great location, but some tweaks would be good to make it even better

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Please do not believe those 5/5 reviews in here, they are most certainly fake! Hotels offer free rooms to bloggers who then in returm write amazing reviews for the hotel (I happened to know one such person). The staff speaks very poor English and are not attentive. They are loud and they behave as if they own the place and they are giving you orders as opposed to serving you (the lack of training is evident everywhere). The rooms are outdated and the whole hotel have a distinct smell of an old building. The breakfast which costs 38Euro per person is what you would expect in a cheap hotel (ham, cheese and eggs). Water was dripping from the ceiling where they were making omelettes. The room where breakfast is served smells a lot and there were big flies everywhere. The max this hotel should be charging is 150Euro and this is just because of the location. Definately it is not worth 500Euro/night that we paid. Please save your hard earned money and don't be a victim of this scam. I had high regard for intercontinental but this run down and utterly neglected place changed my perception. The city is magical but the hotel ruined my holiday.

What a lovely stay! My husband and I stayed for 2 nights while touring Bordeaux and this hotel did not disappoint. The location is perfect, close to local train lines and right in the heart of the pedestrian zone of central Bordeaux. Parking is a little tricky in the area. We arrived via car so we had to buzz the hotel to lower the bollards that prevent car traffic in the pedestrian zone. The hotel provides valet or there are several large parking garages nearby that you can use to park. Check in was quick and they allowed us to check in a little early as well. Our room was on the third floor with views of an internal courtyard. We had a small sitting area, closet/getting ready nook, bathroom with full bath and separate toilet. There were lots of USB ports to charge our electronics. Each evening the hotel provided turndown service and left us a small box of chocolates from a local chocolatier. We made a brief trip to the rooftop bar while we were staying at the hotel and the views are lovely. Highly recommend. Would stay here again if ever we were back in Bordeaux.
