SUPERB! There are so many wineries in CdP, where do you start?! Start here! You will be well equipped for other tastings (anywhere you go), and if you can only do one, then you will have chosen well. The scenery is enchanting, both the castle and the vineyards. Eva was an excellent guide. She was not only very knowledgeable, she was also genuine and welcomed questions. She also had great stories that made the experience even more special. My husband and I did the 2 hour tasting where you learn not only about the wine but also how to describe what you are seeing, smelling and tasting. The tour of the cellar was interesting too. Although cellars have much in common, they're still unique with their own history and winemaker methods. It was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences we've had at any wine tasting. The time flew by. 20 Euros pp well spent. Be sure to confirm a reservation if you...
Read moreWe visited Chateau Fortia on August 22. Unfortunately, there was some sort of harvesting going on so a tour of the cellars was not available, however, we did have a tasting and did manage a short tour of the actual property. Our tasting, conducted by Paul was great. He did give us a history of the property and we sampled 5 wines. We were lucky as our tour was private as no other guests were there. We sampled one white and 4 reds. The white was fruity and delicious. Truthfully, I was not familiar with the regions whites but was impressed. The 4 reds were all amazing. Each wine blend was explained well by our host as well as the blending process. In the end we did purchase the blanc ( Elmee Le Roy) and one rouge, Tradition, as I know this product can be purchased again in Canada, both exquisite!! Well done...
Read moreI felt like the leader of the group did not maintain fluid communication with us. Once he didn't take us from the campsite where we stayed overnight to work in the morning, there was no information about his disregard, not to mention ''sorry''. We had to guess many issues related to the work organization. Apart from the case of the leader, we met many friendly, regular winery employees here, with respect for another foreign workers. They did not have any definite guesses about the end of the harvest so we were at loose end - the advantage was that the winery has provided us an accommodation after the whole work was done - so we could stay free. I wish there would be more involvement in training for coordinators and also care for the...
