This is a very accessible place, and I'm sure the museum and tasting services are as delightful as the person operating the shop. Unfortunately, with the current pandemic restrictions, they cannot do any tastings, and you cannot currently view the museum. However, if I get a chance to come back here during better times I will definitely visit again.
I just really appreciated how welcoming the person was, even knowing she could not offer much. I also love that there is not only parking, but that both the parking lot and the museum have wheelchair and hearing impaired accessible accommodations. These are important actions by any place of business that show their commitment to making sure what is offered is not just for a few.
While I know the smaller shops in the city center really cannot offer these same things due to location and size, the historic preservation of the city buildings and streets likely make this impossible for those shops. However, Museum Brotte chose their location and chose to make it accessible, and those choices speak to the character of the business.
So, while I couldn't even taste the wine, I did purchase a bottle. And while I couldn't even experience the museum, I am giving them 5 stars, for just being stellar humans in such...
Read moreWe booked online. When we arrived we were told the tour was a self guided audio one. I’m deaf, so asked if there were boards to read instead. Initially I was told there wasn’t much to read as it was all audio. The girl on the desk was most apologetic. After about 10 minutes of my husband relaying the info to me, the girl from the front desk caught up with us and very kindly gave me a rough transcript of the tour info which she had just printed out for me. Having finished the tour we had a nice wine tasting session where we tasted five delicious wines and were chatted through the process by a very knowledgeable and friendly guy. There was no hard sell at all. We bought a bottle of wine and then when we got to the desk to pay they gave us another bottle for free to apologise for the audio guide situation. The staff couldn’t have been more obliging and friendly. It was a great little stop off. The tour and tasting last about 45 minutes and you can book online. I’d highly...
Read moreVery good wine museum, audio guide very helpful. They’ve done a very nice job explaining the character of the Côtes de Rhône wines and the Chateauneuf de Pape wines in particular. We opted for the 5 tastings, we chose all red and it was phenomenal. The Brotte profile is very elegant, subtle with deep flavours, aromas and smooth polished tannins. The 4 samples were all remarkable in their signature Brotte characteristics, but the 2010 CDP was the nectar of the gods! They only made 900 bottles of this and we were sampling bottle #569 ! Such exceptional fine-ness of fruit, acidity, maturing tannins and beautiful colour. It was a pleasure to be served and enjoy the charming expertise of Emeline, somm...
