The Annonciade Museum, located in Saint-Tropez, France, is renowned for its impressive collection of modern art, particularly works from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Established in 1986, the museum showcases pieces by artists associated with the Fauvism movement, such as Henri Matisse and André Derain, as well as other prominent figures like Paul Signac and Georges Braque.

The museum is housed in a former chapel, which adds a unique architectural charm to the art viewing experience. It not only highlights the evolution of modern art but also emphasizes the artistic significance of the French Riviera, attracting art lovers and tourists alike. The exhibits often rotate, providing fresh insights into the works and the artists featured.

Housed in a former 16th-century chapel just steps from the port, the museum feels intimate yet filled with artistic treasures that capture the spirit of the Riviera.

A small but incredible collection from the late 19th to mid-20th century and brings together works by painters who were drawn to Saint Tropez for its Mediterranean light. It includes vibrant examples of Pointillism, Fauvism, and the Nabis movement. Seeing paintings by Paul Signac, Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard, Georges Braque, and Raoul Dufy in one place is already remarkable, but what impressed me most was discovering the early work of Francis Picabia.

His luminous Vue de la Citadelle de Saint Tropez offers a softer, almost nostalgic vision of the town, very different from the avant-garde style he later became known for.

Must see and is right at the Harbour in...

It's CLOSED from January 10th thru February 15th. This small detail is mentioned only at the bottom of their home page. We showed dutifully on a Tuesday (Jan 17th) knowing that they are closed on Mondays to our great disappointment. They should make their seasonal closing dates more prominent on their homepage. Also Google does NOT have the seasonal closing dates and would lead to think that they are open. BTW many businesses and restaurants were closed. The classic chicken and the egg problem!
