I was debating with myself whether to give it a one or two stars. Value of their wine is relatively good (read it’s cheap enough for any quality), however, service and rudeness levels is just right for a 1 star. Unfortunately, due to the fact that emotional soreness from the visit did not allow me to enjoy the wine I bought there- I can’t imagine giving it more than 1 star. Instead of being greeted upon entering the place, I was given a lengthy lecture about inappropriateness of taking photos of a private business. This is a winery and shop located directly underneath THE attraction site of this small town on the busiest street in that small town. This business has doors open for public and has no signs requiring a need to explicitly ask for permission to take photos. The guy at the bar spent 50 times longer to give me this educational speech about private property rights than answering any of my questions about the wines. Example: “Where do you source your grapes?” -“It’s all local.” No where else in France or elsewhere in the world got I scolded for trying to take pictures of a store, restaurant,...
Read moreWe loved this venue. Understandably wine by the glass is slightly dearer than a cafe but it's quality wine produced in Amboise. I never understand how visitors can walk in and walk out without purchasing when the prices are clearly displayed before you enter. And the owner will let you taste the robe before you buy a bottle of wine or by the glass. We purchased a beautiful bottle of rose from the region. It was 11 Euros to take away and 19 to drink in their bar. You have the option to purchase cheese meat olives etc to accompany your wine. I loved my wine so much I actually bought two bottles to take home. If your a visitor give this establishment a chance. Owner speak impeccable English so knowledgeable about the wines from this region and is very passionate about what wines they sell. Extremely impressed with our experience. I absolutely...
Read moreSuch a great location to have such terrible customer service. The door was open and people were inside. We went inside and greeted the man with Bonjour. He replied to us in French which we told him we didn't understand. He replied that he had told us they were closed. We said "OK, sorry "and we left. As we turned to leave He said, "Uck, Americans!" to the customers in front of him. We were prepared to spend some money on wines being that this was our first time in the Loire Valley and we wanted to try everything! But we went down the street a ways and found a more welcoming shop and spent our money there where we felt appreciated. Americans be warned. Best part, my fiance isn't even American,...
