Rouen Museum of Fine Arts - Meeting of Metropolitan Museums (RMM) — Attraction in Rouen

Make sure you get the ticket at the front desk. It's free but you still need a ticket. No signs for that and no info on the website about it. No clear entrance line once you get into the museum but someone will show up and ask you about the ticket.

Security will check your bag and water bottle is not allowed. A free museum coin will be granted so you can store your things at the storage area downstairs. The whole museum is indoor so feel free to leave your coat, hat, scarf, etc at the storage

Most staff at the museum are nice and friendly. I got to chat with two of them, and ask questions about the paintings. They may not know the technical details but they are willing to help and share what they know. (I did speak French with them so not sure how experience might be different for other language speakers)

The place seems to be kids friendly. I bumped into a group of kindergarten kiddos and they love to ask my name, who I am, if I am a volunteer ;)

The museum's impressionists' collection is worth the visit alone. Doesn't take long to go through the whole two floors. 1-1.5 hours...

What a fantastic art gallery and a real pleasure to visit . There are so many fantastic paintings, so many talented artists . I wanted specifically to see Christ at the Column by Caravaggio being a super fan of his and I certainly wasn't disappointed . It was awesome and worth coming for alone .but there is so much more I spent hours here . Slaughter of the Innocents by Francesco Cozza . I loved Jean de Saint-Igny adoration of the mages and shepherd's . A fantastic series of paintings by Jean Jouvenet of the Apostles . Not kid-friendly! Nice collection for a provincial museum, we enjoyed the impressionist rooms in particular. But the security is something else… We came with a kid in a stroller, folded the stroller at the entrance and asked politely where we can leave it. To that the security guard with very bad English started shouting “NO NO NO it’s forbidden!” pointing at the sign “no bicycles” (because a stroller and a bicycle is practically the same thing, isn’t it), scared my son and finally forced us to leave the stroller outside on the street. While I can understand that you can’t take the stroller into the museum halls, the demand to take it outside with no parking space dedicated to bicycles/strollers, etc. seems a bit unreasonable, not to mention the...
