As a first time comer on the 19/04/2021. Warm welcoming from a smiling attendant. After a glance at the "bill of fare", I had already made up my mind. Although, it was far passed breakfast time, as I fancy them much, I ordered scrambled eggs. Served with an option of cured ham (a second alternative being smoked salmon), together with a good dollop of a rich butter to be spread upon a large slice of warm toasted country bread. After that, I was fairly well satiated, but, nevertheless, I went back to the counter and ordered a special treat to satisfy my sweet tooth. Among an array of equally tempting home made cakes and biscuits (cookies), my choice went for a piece of a nice fluffy-looking cheesecake topped up with a more than generous amount of a thick, yet smooth, savoury caramel fudge. (second alternative being red berries coulis) A cheesecake with a fresh tingling zesty after taste, indeed. I had just shamelessly overindulged myself! After I had told the waiting staff, the café "allongé" (purposely watered down single espresso) I had ordered, served to me along with my food, was being still too strong for my taste, I was, then, recommanded a cup of freshly brewed filter coffee to complement my "pudding" (dessert)...such a thing, very seldom seen on cafés and restaurants menus in France, is really to be pointed out as a very welcomed exception. Well organi(s)(z)ed, efficient and diligent waiting staff. I do recommand this place, as my overall satisfaction is highly rated. A very slight drawback, however: an order for a "café allongé", (single watered down espresso) is similarly charged as a double one?!
Even if, french is my mother tongue, I intentionnally wrote this satisfaction feedback, for the sake of english speaking visitors, as I do, strongly hope, they will, some day, be allowed to come back to our beautiful city of ROUEN. Best regards...
Read moreSolid spot for brunch! We came here on a Sunday around 12:00pm and the place was quite busy but still with some seats being available. They have a good selection of brunch staples, both sweet and savory. We went for a sweet option (pancakes with caramel, cream and pecan nuts) and a savory one (poached egg, bacon, bread, potatoes). Both dishes were nice and tasty. The food arrived a bit lukewarm though and the same was true for the hot beverages we ordered: a hot chocolate and a chai latte. The chai latte was on the bland side but not bad. Prices are definitely fair and decent...
Read moreWhen visiting Rouen, I bumbed into this super nice little cafe restaurant The place had a nice vibe and super friendly people. The menu was well designed and nice to look at. 5 out of 5 stars for the atmosphere.
I ordered a Shakshuka and was not disappointed. A tiny bit spicy, some feta cheese and a really good sauce. I would have wished the eggs were not poched but fried in the sauce though. A little bigger portion would also have been nice.
In desert the brioche perdu was perfect, not too sweet and a great salty caramel taste. 4 out of 5 stars...
