Baumwipfelpfad Harz — Attraction in Bad Harzburg

We spent a day wandering through the intimate and welcoming town visiting friends and family at many of the different shops and decided to go for a walk on the treetop path.

Along the treetop path there are 18 platforms of the approximately 1,000m long path, with nearly 50 different adventure elements, resting stations and interesting facts. Being built in the woods it is also a very peaceful path to walk, explore some of the interactive offerings it provides or just sit at one of the many rest areas and enjoy the day.

If you are little nervous of heights this will not be an issue for you, trust me! I can't stand heights but the pathway is wide enough and sturdy enough to provide that reassurance you won't be dropping anytime soon. The view from above is very nice, the path is capable of handling wheelchairs and strollers and there are restrooms within walking distance. You can also continue on the additional hiking trails up hill or take the castle mountain cable car which I conveniently located nearby as...

While we overall had a nice outing, a few things draw the experience down to 3 stars.

Firstly, it is what overpriced for what it is. Even though we bought the combi tickets (we took the seilbahn up and hiked back down to the baumwipfelpfad), the value for money isn't very good. Especially considering we ended up waiting in line and buying tickets at the pavillon, but then waiting in line again for 1hr15 minutes at the seilbahn.

Second, unless your children are very small or you have another reason for specifically going here, the experience isn't all that breathtaking. Since we went to Titan rt earlier in the week, this seemed anticlimactic. I almost would have rather remained on the beautiful trails below along the stream.

Third, poor signage on the trail was confusing, as was the experience and confusion of buying tickets and waiting in line in different locations.

Lastly, English text on the boards would be a big improvement to...

Wir waren bei bewölkten Wetter, im August, ohne Regen, auf dem Baumwipfelpfad.

Parkplätze gab es vorher ausreichend, mit Parkautomaten. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass es hier bei guten Wetter, und Hochsaison, eng werden kann.

Die Tickets haben wir unten im Zentrum gekauft, wo auch der Eingang zur Seilbahn ist. Der Ticketschalter am „Kiosk?“ war geschlossen.

Wir haben nur den Pfad ohne Seilbahn gebucht. Es sind sonst Kombitickets möglich. Soweit ich mich erinner, haben wir 9 Euro pro Erwachsenen bezahlt.

Der Pfad ist von dort zu Fuß schnell zu erreichen. Am Eingang des Pfads selbst kann man keine Tickets kaufen.

Durch den Turm bekommt man schnell an Höhe, ohne das man es merkt. Dort kann man an den Tafeln auch viel über die Entstehung der Erde und dessen Leben lesen. Der Anstieg ist dabei ganz geschmeidig. Gut geeignet für alle die nicht mehr so gut zu Fuß sind, auch Barrierefrei für alle auf Rädern unter uns.

Oben angekommen gibt es nochmal eine erhöhte Aussichtsplattform. Auf dem ca 1 km langem Pfad, werden immer wieder auf Tafeln und Skulpturen lehrreiche Informationen über Natur, Harz und Geschichte geteilt. An einigen Stellen gibt es für Gross und Klein Hindernisse zu meistern, allerdings kein Muss - man kann auch alle Stellen normal passieren.

Hier und da kann es mal enger werden, aber es entzieht sich schnell.

Mittig gibt es noch einen Kiosk, wo man in der Höhe Kleinigkeiten gegen „Bargeld“ kaufen kann. Nette Idee.

Der Ausgang teilt sich mit dem Ende der Schwebebahn. Man kann entweder den Pfad wieder zurück, weiter wandern oder unten zu Fuß zurück. Unten gibt es einen kleinen schmalen Weg am Bach lang, der ganz schön ist. Vorbei am Kletterpark (nicht kostenlos) und einigen anderen interessanten Informationtafeln.

Wir haben uns Zeit gelassen, und waren etwas mehr als eine Stunde auf dem Pfad. Kann sicher länger oder kürzer dauern, je nachdem wie viel Zeit man sich nimmt.

Je nach Stelle, kann man leichte Schwingungen merken. Für alle mit Höhenangst, nur als Info.

Ansonsten ist die Aussicht einfach interessant, weil man es sonst nur von unten kennt. Die Infos sind lehrreich und interessant. Es gibt viel zu entdecken.
