Unfortunately, my cut absolutely didn't go the way I planned. I got rebooked to a different hairdresser who I felt like really didn't understand my English explanations and we had difficulty communicating. I was not asked about my natural hair structure which is wavy (causing a bit of shrinkage naturally). I was also not asked how short I would like the hair in the front to be, it was cut without further consultations. Lastly, the cut is NOTHING like my reference photos and absolutely crooked on the side. I left the salon and cried and am currently wearing a hat most times. I added my 2 reference pictures & my current cut. Really sad as I came all the way to Berlin from home. The cut itself was executed well but not what I asked for. Would not visit again and am very sad 💔 At the time i was so shocked I didnt think to speak up, and now they can't make it grow faster anyway.

My experience at La Barber was amazing! I had my appointment with Yazmin to color my hair and she really was so considerate and kind, making sure I felt comfortable during the process and asking for my opinion for all the steps. The team was so welcoming and friendly and I really felt at home, even though it was my first time there. Yazmin even asked a colleague of hers if they could bring me pizza when I was hungry, because the coloring process took multiple hours - this is a service I have never experienced before in my life! The team really goes above and beyond to make sure you’re happy. And I can totally say that I am more than happy with how my hair turned out, because Yazmin made sure everything was perfect! Thank you so much, I would give a million stars if I could! :)

Update 2 Dec 2022 - I tried another stylist (Mercuri) as the one I saw last time (Pukka) was unavailable for the appointment time I needed, and they were amazing! Mercuri organized their station and moved like a surgeon to painstakingly ensure my hair blended perfectly into my undercut. Only thing: I don't notice barbicide anywhere, so I may need to ask about their process when I return, but I have only had great experiences so far. Original review - Thank you SO much. I went a month ago and booked an appointment online. When I arrived, everyone was warm and friendly and offered me a coffee, and I got exactly the cut I asked for. I will be back soon!

I sadly didn’t get the haircut I that I imagined. I wanted to go to your shop because I read a lot of good reviews and thought it would be a save space. I am struggling with my gender identity as a non-binary/transmasc person. This haircut meant a lot for me, because I wanted to feel more and comfortable in my gender identity. In the end I left with more dysphoria and felt terrible.

When I went into the store and I wanted to explain what I would like to have, it was really hard to communicate. The person didn’t speak English or German. Which was fine, because maybe I didn’t see it right on the website. There was someone translating, but it felt overall really rushed and I also felt pressured into the haircut that they showed me. No one really took the time to let me explain what I wanted and imagined. But I said okay, because I thought they know what they are doing and they probably know what I want.

I also told them that I don’t want my hair to be shorter, but I got argued with that it has to be shorter to be the cut that I wanted. But the reference pictures I showed were also not short.

They started cutting and I realized that they were cutting a lot of hair off and I really thought with tearing up the whole time. Also they seemed really annoyed and messy.

In the end the haircut i received was not at all what I wanted and I felt really bad, but I was also too polite and shy to say anything.

I was crying the whole time afterwards and canceled my meet up that day, because I just felt so unattractive and uncomfortable showing myself to anyone.

I really believe this is a good place with good intentions, to create a safe space and help people to express themselves. That’s why I also feel really bad writing this review, but I think it’s important to say this. In the end it was just really bad communication and I wished I would have canceled when I noticed it in...

i have to preface this with two things: i did not have a picture of what i wanted and i also did give quite vague instructions. what i asked for was: roughly keep the haircut i have while adressing a couple issues (unevenness, back getting a bit too long, weird volume in one spot) plus wanting highlights. i did not mention the shade i am looking for in highlights but i also was not asked. i also mentioned wanting to look older/my age since i naturally have a baby face. there was a language barrier so i am not sure how much actually got across, but there was also no other workers in the store at that point to ask to translate. when asked how long i want the front section of my hair to be, i specifically asked for it to be longer than my eyebrows so that when it bounces up i still have enough hair. i got a lesbian-looking mullet with microbangs (looks great on other people, but i‘m a guy who this absolutely does not suit), white/grey cap highlights on my brown hair and ended up looking 12. i trusted the hairdresser since she said she really liked the results from that technique but pulling the hair through the cap was so painful and it did end up looking like bad cap highlights. at that point, a different colleague who spoke better english was asked to translate and she suggested we do a different shade for the highlights, i asked for a more natural slightly darker honey blonde. it ended up being a level 9 neutral blonde, but after the 5 hours there and holding back my emotions i did not want to ask them to redye it again. i also did not want the haircut fixed because there simply isnt enough hair left to fix anything. i went home, cried and redyed it. will absolutely not leave the house without a cap for the next couple weeks. i do want to mention that the team was very nice, but my hair has left me feeling worse about my looks than i...

I actually visited a whole year ago but still reminded of how much of an awful experience I had, I should have walked out in hindsight. I was excited by the promise of a queer barber shop and the extremely high ratings on Google. From the moment I tried to book it was difficult, I went in store physically and was told to go and make a booking online instead. I didn’t know who to book for my hair online but oh did I make the biggest mistake. I rocked up to my appointment on time and was forced to wait outside for 20 minutes while my barber had no guests, just had a coffee and took their time. Annoyed to have to call me in, they did after 20 minutes and it was hell from the get go. I just wanted a cut, but I was told I must have my hair washed. I have curly hair and did not want my hair washed with regular shampoo and conditioner (every curly hair person knows this is a disaster and so should ever barber and hairdresser), so I refused and the dramas unfolded. My hair was washed with water as a compromise and then the whole time getting a cut they sobbed about their scissors being destroyed, how dirty my hair was, and I felt so shocked at this rudeness and unprofessionalism. I should have walked out! They did a mediocre job snipping a few bits of hair off and then proceeded to charge me like 40 euros :) for the guests and store wondering who this was - it was il Mico. Would not return or recommend, which is sad because I had heard such good things. Don’t be in customer service if you don’t want to put a smile on or at least be nice, on time and...
