Arethussa — Restaurant in Berlin

I got fooled by the positive reviews of this place. The experience was awful. I took my mom there for an authentic experience as it was her first time in a Greek place. And boy was I wrong to pick this place as they made the experience very bad. While ordering we asked for grill mix teller and A PIECE of lamb kotlett on top. After a dreadful wait of 1 hour 15 minutes we finally got our food. Also during the long wait we had to ask for ouzo that was NOT on the house. The staff was informed 2 times of our wait - 3 tables around us came later, got served and finished their dishes WHILE WE WERE STILL WAITING. The food that arrived was an extra plate of full lamb teller that we didn’t order with a block of butter instead of tzatziky as a side. The tzatziky was not authentic, without garlic and food was super dry without onion garnish. No ouzo either. Before paying the staff was informed politely about the mistakes. Their solution was that they won’t charge us for the ouzo that is supposed to be on the house in an AUTHENTIC Greek restaurant as a part of the experience. Also there was no Greek music or any music in the background. The lamb platter was an extra 25 € on top of the bill for which we had to wait another 15 min eventhough we make it clear that we’d like to leave. The restaurant was not even busy and we received such treatment. I’m a Greek fan and always return to my verified restaurants. I guess trying something new in this case doesn’t pay off. Should I not leave an honest review after the lovely old man waived the fee of this 11-Eur-dish of Frozen Veggies & "Seafood"?? Who could be so shameless to ever put a dish like this on a menu? You wouldn't even serve this to your guests at home! Such a rip-off! I've never felt so disappointed having dinner anywhere in the world. What pisses me off even more is that they tried real hard to shut me up and to justify it with their BS: "no one would expect fresh seafood in Berlin", "frozen veggies are actually more healthy".. Reading the response from them to a similar complaint just reminds me of how ridiculous it was to listen to their excuses. I doubt that all the 5-star-reviews are given by...

I had such a great time at this Greek restaurant! From the food to the service, everything was spot on.

We kicked things off with a classic Greek salad, then went for the gyro, and the souvlaki was just as amazing! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly.

Our waiter was super friendly and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. And as a nice surprise, he treated us to two complimentary Ouzos at the end—such a sweet, authentic gesture.
