Could be a beautiful park/area for the residents but the city has allowed it to run down and clearly not boosted local businesses.

The Peace Column, or Friedenssäule, in Berlin, also known as the Victory Column (Siegessäule), is an iconic monument located in the Tiergarten park. It was built in the 19th century to commemorate Prussian military victories, particularly the Prussian victory in the Danish-Prussian War. The column features a golden statue known as "Victoria," symbolizing victory, atop a tall column. Over the years, it has become a symbol of peace and unity in addition to its original military...

This place could actually be quite nice, but for some reason the city's administration is keeping it in a truly terrible state. They just opened it again after (literally) years of "renovation", with the result that it looks worst than when they closed it. The only thing not to miss, in case you are going through the square, are the murals on the North end. They got vandalized already, and they will get more, but I think they're mostly...

Deserted residential area. Most shops were closed and almost no people walking around. Funny, in almost any other city center this area would be bustling with activities and stores. There is a pathway leading from checkpoint Charlie to here, where all the nations show their support for future peace placed their plaques there.
