Belgisches Haus (Belgian House) in Cologne

Belgisches Haus is an architecturally remarkable building located on Cäcilienstraße near Neumarkt in Cologne. Built in 1948/49 by the Belgian state, it originally served as a hotel, restaurant, meeting and event space, and even housed a small library.

Until 2015, it was home to the Belgian Consulate General, which fostered cultural exchanges and economic relations between Belgium and Germany. After its closure, the building continued to host cultural events and is currently serving as a temporary location for the Roman-Germanic Museum (Römisch-Germanisches Museum).

Since 2015, the association “Friends of the Belgian House” has been working to preserve the building as a space for German-Belgian cultural encounters.

Here because the Roman museum is temporarily housed here. Excellent museum, though would be easy to walk past if not searching it out. Cologne has an amazing place in ancient Rome's history.
