Esslingen am Neckar Castle — Attraction in Esslingen am Neckar

I'm castle mad anyway but when first seeing the castle from the path that goes through vineyards along the hills between Esslingen and Mittengen that there's a medieval looking covered walkway up, then seeing it all lit up above Esslingens old town when on the way to our air bnb not far below the burg, an exciting thought to be able to go explore the next day. The covered wooden walkway is rather steep with quite deep stone steps but wonderful view and if you're castle mad it really is a very beautiful way up to the remains of the fortress. Great views of the beautiful half timbered buildings around the market place and to the vine covered hillsides. The walk way is lit up til late in the night and is used as a thoroughfare by people living in the town behind the burg as well. There is a restaurant inside the main house that is only open during weekends in the winter and there's a high platform with cannons that has great panoramic views. Particularly...

Hi everyone So today i visited this castle 🏰 in Esslingen am Neckar Its very interesting place to visit with very nice view of downtown The castle self has yard with sit-bench with very different view On top roof of castle can have some bench with view of city with amazing atmosphere and fresh air Sunrise and sunset each one has amazing feeling and view Next to wall of castle there is wine 🍷 farm that make other amazing feeling and its good to visit there and wine farm in autumn 🍂 Parking place is available there next yo castle and there one long stair way from downtown to yard of castle

Beautiful location overlooking the town and valley below. The 300+ steps to get up are worth doing if you can as the staircase is very pretty with decorated wood beams and the view going up is great. Otherwise you can park at the top and simply walk into the castle. Be warned the car park is not clearly marked as being the castle's and you cannot see the castle from the car park. The castle itself is in good shape. The restaurant there is very good and the grounds have extensive play areas for children. Final warning: the restaurant does not take card payments other than German cards, so it's cash only with no cash...
