Rubbish for taking photos and viewing for that matter. There is a huge wire It's not like it's stopping you throwing things it's completely pointless,.The visit I had there was free but they will soon start charging people. In Funchal the viewing terrace had an area with some acrylic see thru panels but also a place with just a waist high fence. Showing the wire mesh is unneeded. There are a few holes for sticking cameras through to take photos. Although at some points of the day you or your camera are blinded by the sun. There is also a rooftop that goes further than the terrace just in front blocking most of your view for quite a lot of the platform. Most of the time you will only see planes taxiing to stand or to the runway. Even the landings are hard enough to see because of the fact that the viewing platform doesn't even stretch to the start of the runway and you won't see take offs well because they are already up off of the ground before they get to you. Just take the train to zeppelinheim and walk the 7 mins away from the station in the direction of the forest over the bridge and you are at the dedicated viewing area where you will see everything way better do not bother going here they just want your money. Oh and the entire entrance and exit stink so don't stick around for too long this place is not the one in the airport unfortunately lots of people think it is so alot of the reviews are not for this but are for the one in the airport this one is in terminal 2 outside the...
Read moreA large viewing terrace that is free to visit opens at 10 a.m., closes 6 pm (at the time of writing), would be wise to check on winter opening. Viewing is behind a large chain link fence, there were 4 purpose made hols to poke your camera through although people seemed to congregate around them. The terrace is set on the terminal 2 building, so it is slightly offset (for those that remember terminal 1 viewing terrace). Still it is free admission and interesting for the casual visitor. Airport tours are advertised, I did not use them, I would advise consulting the airport website for details. One further note, as the terrace is in full sun, I recommend taking a sunhat and some sun block as the sun and even the light breeze will burn (writing from experience) thinking especially...
Read moreI am trying to avoid this airport anytime I can. I always have to run to a connecting flight. But today, they surprised me. I had to have a layover here. So as usual, the plane was 1 hour late, came to Gate A and my other plane was at Gate D, of course. So I did my morning run through Frankfurt airport just to get to know, I will, again, have to go through the control. Because why not? So I did another control, ran to the gate, almost missed the boarding, just to get stuck in the bus in front of the plane for 30 minutes.
Frankfurt airport never disappoints. It's always horrible quality and a lot of stress. And if you have time to hang out there, there's nothing to do anyways. Just empty walls and shops.
As always, steadily...
