I would give no stars if I could. I’m really not one to do reviews unless they’re something so good I’ll remember or if I’ve had a really bad experience.
I came from my flight to Frankfurt to this hotel at 12am. I had a reservation number, email confirmation, and it was prepaid for. Upon arrival there is no one at check out for about 10 minutes (not the worst thing in the world). When I told the worker I was here to check in it was followed by a big sigh and he stated that they have no more rooms and are fully booked. I then informed him that I have a reservation. Even so he said yes I understand but we have no rooms to put you in. Then we proceeded to stare at each other blankly. I’m fully assuming they would take responsibility and find a different hotel for me to sleep in because it’s 12:00am. I explained to him that this is my problem but not my problem to resolve seeming I did everything correct and paid already. He “calls” other hotels, however each time he “called” a hotel with his phone he would leave the front desk counter to speak to the hotel he’s calling. He said he called 6 and they are also fully booked and shrugged his shoulders. In my head I’m thinking “well then maybe continue to call more??” At that point 6 other people came in and they were also told they have no more rooms. I started to call my own hotels and by the second one they said they had a room available. (Hindsight I should have had the receptionist book the room for me with that hotel so I would have to pay yet AGAIN for a different hotel which was also 160 more than the one I already paid for. But it was late and was not thinking things through clearly)
Refund process: I asked front desk about a refund. He said I would have to go through the website/third party I booked with. I called the third party. They said they would confirm the situation and get back to me. I received an email later stating that the hotel “disagreed”. And because I didn’t follow check in policy they will not refund me. I called Staycity Aparthotels and reiterated my situation that happened with them and the third party. I was told they would call me back the next day to do further investigation. It has now been 7 days later with no call back or follow up email. And I’m now wondering if I need to make an 1 1/2 hour drive to personally go back and resolve...

In a good location which was the only reason I chose it, and then figured I could shop at the nearby REWE and use the kitchenette. Kitchenette was well stocked with utensils and kitchen tools. Unfortunately I had booked for NYE to fly out on New Year’s Day and didn’t realize the REWE would close so early (which made zero sense for an area in which people are flying into all day, but whatever). Obviously not the fault of the hotel, but just keep in mind if you plan to stay in Gateway Gardens near a holiday I guess. Paid 10€ for one of their plain cheese pizzas instead since I hadn’t eaten all day and all but one very packed restaurant was closed. Tasted and looked way cheaper than 10€.
The strange thing was there was no phone to reception in the room. There was a wooden block with a QR code and you had to contact them via WhatsApp, tried that to ask a question about laundry and never got a response. Couldn’t figure out where the laundry was as it’s not described by signage in the building, the welcome card in the hotel room or online. Turns out it’s on the same level as the parking garage and you have to download an app to pay for and use the washer/dryer.
There were two people manning the reception but sometimes there wasn’t anyone available so people were sticking waiting.
Only other issue I had was I tried to pay for an airport shuttle to Terminal 2 and since it didn’t run when I needed to the airport, they recommended a nearby bus station. Okay, no problem, the female receptionist just gave me my cash back and took back the token.
Turns out the bus didn’t run to T2 early in the morning so I walked all the way back with my luggage after I checked out and requested a token for T1 and I’d just transfer terminals at the airport, which is what I should’ve done. Tried to pay in cash like last time, but did it with a different receptionist and he said he couldn’t take cash because he was new and didn’t know how.
TLDR: the rooms were fine, kitchenette would’ve been useful if everything didn’t close so early for NYE, laundry requires an app, and service was hit or miss due to lack of staff at...
Read moreThis is my third time I stayed at the Staycity Apart Hotels chain. This time I stayed with my family at the Frankfurt Airport Facility. The facility is very close to the Frankfurt Main Airport. It is about five to six minutes by car or UBER. And about 15 minutes walk to the terminal2. The guest rooms are good and well equipped with kitchen containing all the utensils, cutlery, Plates, cups and silverware every thing washed and in excellent condition. There is a small refrigerator, a microwave and a stove. Small rooms but well equipped and the bathrooms are need and clean with dispensable shampoo and body wash. No Conditioner though. An upgrade room is slightly bigger in size. Staff is OK and helpful, but not very efficient and quick to process check in and check out. The process is very slow and there is a big line to check in. It is in a very nice and quite neighborhood surrounded by hotels and offices. The train station is in a five minute walkable distance to avail the local trains. There are not many restaurants near by, but there is an excellent Italian restaurant next door and an Asian restaurant where you can get Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese and Thai food. In both the Italian and the Asian restaurants the food and drinks are good. Price is $$. Not too expensive not too cheap. Right next to these restaurants there is a supermarket. One can go there and buy water, drinks, food items. The restaurant within the facility is OK for breakfast. Not great. There is not much variety. Pizza is available but not great. Most importantly please do not ever trust and depend upon the hotel shuttle service. Don't even inquire about it. They are not at all courteous and it is not free. Per person $16.00 and not dependable. If you take an UBER it will cost $15.00 for four passengers and four suite cases.
If they can improve a bit on the staff efficiency, courtesy, breakfast quality and offer free and dependable shuttle services, this place is the most desirable place for visiting Frankfurt.
But all said and done, I strongly recommend the StayCity Aparthotel at Frankfurt Airport. It...
