The overall experience was satisfactory, especially since there are not many options out here, but I feel like this place could be so much better.
First off, the service was good. Friendly staff, quick response to any requests, and I was immediately approached to be seated after entering. The only improvement they could work on is having staff ask people having a meal if everything is okay.
The food was honestly quite disappointing. Maybe I got unlucky, but I felt like the subpar experience continued through almost every dish. As I hadn’t eaten all day, I ordered spaghetti pomodoro from the “create your own pasta” section - very creative, I know… - and was surprised to have received it in around 5 minutes. The presentation was a bit lacking as well, only one leaf of basil on the dish and that was it. After tasting, it wasn’t great either - the pasta was sadly overcooked and slightly mushy. It was also lacking seasoning, like salt or oregano, making it taste very bland. This is something that could’ve probably been improved quite easily by the presence of salt and pepper on the tables - if there had been any. Sadly that was missing… something I have seen very rarely in any restaurant. In their place there was a sugar dispenser, which wasn’t even consistently available on every table.
After I had finished the pasta, I ordered their special “pizza sticks” - basically bread sticks modeled after pizza rolls with different fillings - with cheese and rosemary oil. The disappointment continued with this. The sticks were very dry and the rosemary oil didn’t help too much, as there wasn’t that much of it. Furthermore, it tasted like regular olive oil and I couldn’t make out any rosemary notes. The cheese was a good choice tho, it proved to be quite tasty. Sadly the quantity could be improved upon as the cheese was way more enjoyable than just dry pizza dough, but the latter constituted the majority of the dish.
After having these two dishes disappoint me so thoroughly, I was hesitant to order a dessert at first, but I am glad I chose to do so. I had the tiramisu, which was honestly very good. I think the cookie garnish could be removed but that’s just a minor thing. Definitely enjoyed the dessert and thus had at least that good note to go out on. Whilst speaking about positives, the drinks were good as well. I had a Hugo rose and a ginger lemonade and I enjoyed both of those very much, no complaints there. The design and overall concept of the interior was also very pretty, inviting, and warm - very nice in general.
If you’re in the area and need some quick food or good drinks, you probably can’t go wrong here. Alas, it really needs a lot of improvement and I hope they can work on that. I hope this feedback can help make the...
Read moreWe came here with high hopes based on the positive reviews - and in hindsight wish we hadn’t. This is my first negative review on here, because the experience was so bad. We were hungry and looking forward to some Italian food the evening before our flight. We sat down outside and were ignored for the first 15-20 minutes, 3 waiters/waitresses walking past in the meantime. Someone finally came to take the order and we waited another 20 minutes for the starter. When the starter came, there was no buffalo mozzarella on there - one of the main ingredients of the salad. We asked if they forgot the buffalo mozzarella and the waiter said “we didn’t forget the buffalo mozzarella, we ran out of it. Instead we added extra figs.” (There we’re exactly 4 small pieces of fig on the entire salad). The fact that they run out of something is not the issue - but the fact they don’t communicate it and are trying to hide it. Salad turned out nice in the end! We then waited an entire hour for the two mains (pizza and risotto). The table next to us waited 90 minutes in total as they had forgotten their order. And when their pizzas finally came, one of them had buffalo mozzarella on it 😂. The food again was good, although not exactly prepared with love. We ordered the bill straight away after two hours in total - and explained to the other waitress that it wasn’t a great experience waiting all this time, not being acknowledged and ingredients missing that were on the menu. Things can happen and we understand this - but you have to communicate with your visitors and not try and get away with it and charge the full price. I mean we had 6 different service staff at our table. What was the cherry on the cake is that the waitress tried to argue that we can see it’s a full restaurant tonight……. then please limit the seating capacity if you cannot serve your customers or not even acknowledge them in the first place. Finally they took the bottle of water off (€6) - at least something.
Next time at FRA, we will consider taking a trip into town, as that would have been...
Read moreThis is a lovely Italian restaurant amidst a hotel cluster by FRA T2. I was staying at the Holiday Inn and it was a 5 - 7 minutes walk down the road in front of a Rewe shop.
The inviting storefront is matched and exceeded by an elegant interior that smacks of recent construction. There is a generous indoor seating area with additional outdoor seating. Organization at the entry is a little lax because you expect a greeter who shows you to a seat. But that is not the case. Both times there, I had to seek out an employee near the front who said we could sit anywhere we liked.
The service during dinner in both cases was very good. Servers were pretty good about being attentive and/or accessible even during busy times. Our last visit was on a Friday evening and they were packed by the time we left.
On my first visit, the kitchen was closed and only pizza was available. But this was OK as their pizza was pretty good. I had the Prosciutto and Rucola Pizza, which was quite tasty. My second visit was during regular dinner hours with a colleague. We started with a Bruschette Misto, which featured an olive and pepper mix, a pate and a cream cheese for toppings. It was excellent. For mains, my colleague had the Lasagne and I sampled the Penne Bolognese. My colleague reported his to be very good and I enjoyed mine as well. We tried the Panna Cotta for dessert, which was excellent.
The second visit where we had a full dinner was probably indicative of the cost. For the two of us with appetizer, water, a 500-mL flask of wine to share, mains, dessert and one coffee, the final outlay was 60 euro (including a small tip).
Overall, I really liked this place. I'll probably return next time I'm staying in a hotel...
