We took Snake Way on our way down from Philosophenweg (we went up to Philosophenweg via another path) and the experience of seeing the "old side" of Heidelberg open up to you as you exit Snake Way is wonderful.
Some parts of Snake Way have handrails but most of the time you'll be holding onto the side of a wall if you need to keep steady on your way down. Take note that the steps along Snake Way is made of cobblestone and it is a long walk - its best not to have tired feet when going this way.
A trip to Heidelberg would not be complete without going through Snake Way on your way to visit the old side of Heidelberg...

Just enough to get us wet and "the way" wet. Again, that would have been Okay, except for the steps at the east end were now wet and it was dark and we only had cell phone lights to illuminate the cobblestone steps. From those sources, I learnt an interesting fact that the doctorates and the professors in the university created this path and they would often walk this path for a break and for new idea. If you ask me, it really does give a perspective.
