Restaurant Kilimanjaro — Restaurant in Heidelberg

Ethiopian is always a good idea, anytime anyday. And considering the fewer options around the region this is a good place. I however don't like a couple of things, one that you have to always have a reservation. They just don't take you without a reservation especially on weekends. The seating is small and that's probably the reason. Contrary to what a lot of people complained, the service was fast and we got our food within 20 minutes of ordering. The prices are not too high compared to Ethiopian places in rest of Germany especially the taster plates. The staff is kind and accommodating. I had very high hopes for this place, so I went there with a couple of friends, but was disappointed in the end. Undoubtedly understaffed and not my kind of food. We had long waiting time and weren’t taken care of properly as a customer should, since one service was responsible for the whole restaurant (which definitely isn’t her fault). Lots of food and drinks couldn’t be served for unknown reasons. They weren’t „allowed“ to serve tap water when they didn’t sell bottled water. My food was slightly above average, while my friends food was boring, dry and had a weird taste to it. I kind of have mixed feelings about this place. On one hand, you get a unique variety of food with so many flavours but on the other hand their prices are kind of high, so it makes students and working professionals think twice about going there. The ambience was quite nice but the waiter showed quite an attitude and squished 5 people in a small corner on a makeshift table where we had to hold the cutlery in our hands, just because we didn't have a reservation even though half the place was empty, and was still empty until we were finished.
