Das dritte Bild soll deutlich machen, dass die Kirche eine Kirche ist, auch wenn sie von der Ausstattung her ein Museum Nürnberger Stadtgeschichte sein könnte.

Theseus, son of King Aegeus of Athens, has killed the Minotaur and attached the head to his shield as a trophy. He has wrapped Ariadne's thread, here more of a belt, around his sword like a souvenir. But when he returns to Athens he forgets to use a white sail, the agreed sign of a happy outcome to the venture, so that his father Aegeus thinks he is dead. He then throws himself to his death from the rock of the Acropolis. The mouse is a symbol of death.
