Evening pass totally worth it. Solo visit Here a detailed review:
Arrival/ticketing: As a Kronasar hotel guest and having already purchased a ticket in andvance. The entry was pretty smooth, I got my entry wrist band at the hotel reception and was ready to go. Everything you buy in the park will be charged on your wrist band and you pay that when exiting. I bought an evening ticket (4:30pm - 10pm), which was still rather expensivs for 41 euros I thought. As a solo visitor 5h are more than enough to do all attractions.
The park: The changing rooms and lockers are pretty clean and spacy (2 stories). The park itself looks very scenic and is well themed. I thought its pretty immersive. It was also pretty clean, the floor was a bit slippery, so flip flops are not a bad idea. For a Sunday evening I thought it was not that crowded. The outdoor area Svalgoruk was open as well (despite it being only early may, 19°C). The staff was nice, but as everywhere else there some cool guys but also some more unpleasant guys.
Attractions: During my stay most slides had a moderate to low wait. Waiting times dropped to zero at around 8pm. The slide variety was ok, they have some cool slides but its not the park's strongest aspect. Galaxy Erding, Miramar Weinheim ou Aquamagis have a better slide collection. Here the main slides (dont remember the names since they are hard to remember): -Trap door slides: these are to me the most fun/exciting slides there. The drop might not be as intense as other trap doors but still delivers. I could ride each 3x, they barey had any waiting time. Sadly they dont allow swimming goggles, water shoots into your face. -Dueling tire slide: I thought that one was mere average, kinda slow and had some dead spots. Had nice coloring though. -10 lane mat racer: Those are really fun and thrilling. Doing laps will give you good cardio since its a long walk up. The wait was always very short. -Bowl tire slide: Very fun slide with all enclosed bowl. Thought it would be cooler with more light effects. This one had a longer wait but dropped to 0 after 9pm. -Red tire slide: standard average tire slide with quick turns -2 group raft slides: Those are enjoyable. Sadly longer waits, especially as a solo rider you might have to wait longer. The slide with the quarter pipe /wall stall is the most fun but also harder to get a ride on since they allow only 2 or 4 riders at once. So good luck finding a ride partner, waited for 15min at the top. -Ice breaker jump slides: fun thrilling little slides -wave pool: very enjoyable with pretty high wave, also nice themed (check my pic added) -lazy river: very interesting and well themed river, I'd say one of the best -outdoor wild river: one of the more tame wild river but very fun, not rough at all and has a good lenght, best time when its dark -Svalgoruk outdoor play area: eyecatching structure with some interesting slides: Spiralrok, Slalomrok, Bowl slide (thrilling, interesting concept with the pool in the bowl), double racer. Those are also fun for adults. Only con to me were the seams between the slide parts that kinda scratched my back.
Bars: The indoors pool bar is pretty cool with a nice chill atmosphere. The additional jets and lie down spaces made it perfect to relax. Their choice of drink, especially cocktails, is great. Their choice of beer is a bit slim though. The drinks are higher priced (like Luxembourg price level). The outdoor pool bar area is cool as well but usually more crowded and a bit more expensive. Also I saw that they hand out different kinds of cups. Some cocktail can be handed to the pfand machines, some not and you gotta return them at the bar (you get back 2 euros).
Verdict: ++ theming, ambience ++ cleanliness ++ low to no waits in the evening ++ lazy river trap door slides wild river (night) wave pool mat racer back scratching on Svalgoruk slides price slide line up (you are done with all the slides...
Read moreWe visited rulantica from Scotland whilst in Germany to do Europa park in October. Getting here is simple as a tourist and shuttle buses run up until closing which was a great help for us as we stayed until then. I wish I could do 3.5 stars as this is probably a fairer reflection of how I feel on the whole.
Pros: This place is really spectacular to look at and slides are lots of fun. There wasnt one we didnt enjoy. Watch out for the water going up your nose at the start of the drop slide though haha. We done an evening ticket and queues weren't too bad at all. Longest wait around 10 minutes. The theming is stunning and visually the park would be hard to beat I imagine. It looked particularly pretty in the dark. All staff we interacted with were extremely friendly, kind with kids and very approachable. Especially the lovely gentleman who showed us in at reception (I hope you'll get to Scotland one day soon!). You get a wristband at the start which deals with your locker and also allows you to buy things while in the water area. At the end you just take it up and pay. We liked this a lot as we didn't want to use a card so were able to use cash at the end of the visit. It was very convenient and efficient.
Things we struggled with are the pricing, unmanned slides and directions to slides. The heat is also hard work with all the stairs and carrying rafts however I accept the heat is a necessity given the environment. Be prepared to get tired out just walking to slides though!
In contrast to Europa park which felt amazing value for money, rulantica feels a little over priced. I do struggle to see how anyone could spend a whole day there but this might be more to do with myself and my families nature. When we go somewhere like this we are not looking to spend hours sitting eating and drinking or shopping. However, there is plenty opportunity for this if it is what you enjoy.
We did struggle to know how to get to the rides we were looking for but again this may be a personal thing as we didn't unfortunately speak German. However, we couldn't really see many maps around. It would be nice if these were more numerous and obvious to make most of time.
Some of the slides we had expected some help with did not have any staff members present. This was a little nerve wracking as we had never been and some of the dinghys were hard to hold on your own against the water pressure whilst trying to help your child in. That being said, we were not injured at all and our kids were safe and we did get used to it. I would just have appreciated the input from a staff member at the top of the slide as a newcomer. It would have been a bit less stressful and thus more enjoyable. This may have been because it was the evening session also.
I do think rulantica is a lovely place and the slides are fun. It was for the most part very clean too. We did eat whilst there but unfortunately didn't enjoy the food too much, perhaps more issue with what we chose though.
It is absolutely worth visiting if you have children and are in the area. You won't go away disappointed or not having had a great time if you go with your kids. I think you'd be disappointed if you planned a whole day here but the evening ticket worked really well for us. Perhaps a whole day is necessary at peak periods to allow for queuing but as it was when we experienced it, I'd have felt I wasted my time if I went for a whole day.
In conclusion, I think the pricing is off in comparison to Europa which gives you a lot for your money and this is perhaps the biggest downfall. The difference between a Europa park day ticket and rulantica day ticket isn't much but you are getting much more for your money in Europa.
All of that being said, this is a magical experience for children, of that there is no doubt. I have no regrets...
