Kalamia Beach is a true paradise, boasting a sea so stunning and crystal-clear that a snorkel mask almost feels unnecessary. Accessible by foot via a dirt trail, the beach is easily reachable, even when accompanied by children. You can park your car for free on the street, and if spots are scarce, there's a paid parking option nearby for 7 euros.
The beach provides umbrella rentals for 10 euros each, and there's a well-equipped bar where you can quench your thirst and savor delicious bites. On the left side of the beach, captivating caves await, perfect for capturing stunning photographs. Kalamia Beach is an ideal destination for snorkeling enthusiasts, as the abundance of fish beneath the water's surface creates a mesmerizing underwater world.
Unlike some other beaches in Cefalonia, Kalamia Beach does not offer jet ski rentals, preserving its tranquil atmosphere. This makes it an excellent choice for water games and paddleball. We got there at 12 and none were available so we got some drinks from the covered bar (draught lager €5 for a pint €4 for a small) at about 2pm some people left and we nabbed a couple of loungers and umbrella €15. We had a Greek salad there €8, which was nice enough. The water is clean and absolutely beautiful, you can swim out to a small cave, but watch out for the rocks underfoot. The beach is sandy but gets pebbly towards the shoreline, and there is the odd whiff of sulphur coming from somewhere, but all in all a very pleasant...
Read moreSet the direction to "Sto Psito" restaurant at the top, they have a private parking lot, but there's a public just in the other side of the road. I noted there's another path if you descend further in the road, I just don't know if it's easier.
