Great atmosphere as their was live music when we went and the place was full. The service was poor we had an older lady that kept serving us and she was rude but the younger gentlemen were very nice. Got seated straight away but it took them awhile to come and take our order, our starters arrived mainly nice but the cheese pies were on the saltier side. Our table got cleared and we ordered another round of drinks, Mains arrived pretty shortly after and the table had been mainly cleared but we didn't have any cutlery so we waited a minute with the assumption that they would bring some round but when they didn't we tried to get someone's attention which was difficult. Finally got some cutlery and majority of the food was quite salty, the beef stifado was extremely salty and made the person eating it not feel very well and they had to leave early. Our second round of drinks arrived shortly after our mains got delivered and they were missing a Lemonade from our order and we realised we were missing an order of chips from our main so we had to try call someone over again which was difficult and the finally we ended up with our complete order. We won't personally go back and I don't know if our experience is the usual but this is just our experience, it is a real shame because it was a lovely place and we were having a great time before we got our food. I obviously appreciate that people's tastes are different too but that's just...
Read moreThe wonderful reviews on here, coupled with a recommendation from a lovely Greek woman who lives on the island sold it. What a bitter disappointment tonight was. We’d booked last night and were asked which table we’d like. We chose one. When we arrived, there were apologies because they’d forgotten us. No great shakes, we chose another table. All good so far. We ordered a carafe of the house white which was delicious. We shared hummous, pitta and stuffed vine leaves which both tasted as you’d expect. I ordered the fried codfish which came with some kind of garlic mash and green vegetables. I think there was some cabbage amongst the veg but I decided not to venture too far into it due to the over cooked horrible mess on my plate. It reminded me of my grandmother putting the sprouts on to boil on Christmas Eve. Watery and inedible. The mash was also watery and tasteless. The codfish was ok but the stray cat turned its nose up at the sneaky bits I’d left for him. My friend’s lamb dish was ok… ish. Hoping for some redemption in the desert, we asked for the sweet menu. 20 minutes later we were asked what we wanted. By this time, there were more staff than customers. We asked for the bill. I couldn’t make eye contact with the staff on the way out. It was an embarrassing experience. What a shame. I’m always up for praise and credit where it’s due, but we’ll eat elsewhere for the rest...
Read moreVisited as a couple earlier this week. It is a large restaurant with an extensive menu, serving all the traditional Greek dishes you would expect. When we visited, the restaurant was packed, which is often a good sign. The downside was, that the service appeared to suffer, we waited quite some time without any drinks, we accepted that they were busy, and expected things to be a little slower, which is fine. However after 10-15 mins we asked a passing waitress if would get some drinks, and she barked at us that she would come back soon. Eventually she did, and we ordered food and drinks. The food was nice, although nothing outstanding, and was reasonably priced. At the end of the meal, we asked for the bill, it is usual to be asked if you are paying cash or card in Greece now, we said card, and got the bill. Sat for nearly nearly 20 minutes, same waitress ignored us both when we said 'excuse me' to say that we would like to pay, eventually got her attention and she waved her hand towards the bar and said go up there. Went to the bar, and waited whilst they were making drinks, for them to tell me that I had to go to a different area of the bar to pay. As I said, they were very busy, but the whole experience was very impersonal. Would not say don't go there, but there are definitely nicer restaurants that make you feel more welcome and have a...
