I’m an IHG loyalist. I can tell you the difference between the breakfast buffet at the Intercontinental hotels in Rome and Athens (sheeps milk yogurt vs honey in the comb) and quality is a hallmark of the experience. It’s a luxury hotel. That’s what you are paying for. The locations, the ambiance, and the service. Generally, everything is as close to perfect as one can get. We checked in last night. The desk staff was incredibly accommodating, the bellmen first rate, housekeeping perfect. When we encounter someone who isn’t personable it’s frankly jarring. And when the incident is repeated you know it’s a pattern of behavior and not just someone having a bad day. The officious gentleman with reading glasses who asks for your room number when entering the breakfast cafe near the pool is difficult. The first time we came, we were not yet guests, and he was rude. Today, when we gave our room number, he practically spat, “Breakfast is not included with your room!” in a condescending and brisk manner which seemed to imply that it was out of our price range. Everyone else here is absolutely tops! The servers and wait staff anticipate your needs, are friendly and helpful. It’s just this one guy who you have to get past, like a troll on a bridge.

What an amazing stay we had at Intercontinental. Friendly and kind staff, really spacious bedroom, delicious breakfast served from very early (6:30). Our bedroom (7th floor) had a beautiful view to Acropolis which is really amazing to wake up to. Breakfast has a really great variety: fresh fruit, a lot of cheese and cold meats, fresh fruit juices and smoothies. Different kinds of eggs and yogurt. Pool is not huge but is perfectly enough for refreshing after a busy day in the city. The hotel has a bus stop right in front of the hotel and metro is a 10 minutes walk. Hop on hop off for piraeus and beach tours has a stop right on the other side of the road (ask in the hotel where to cross the avenue). A perfect stay in an amazing hotel which exceed our already high expectations.

Exceptional Stay with Thoughtful Birthday Surprise🤩 I had an amazing stay at InterContinental Athens. This trip was extra special as it was my birthday, and the hotel went above and beyond to make it unforgettable. Constantina from customer relations was incredibly thoughtful—she arranged a beautiful birthday cake in my room and even accommodated me for a complimentary spa treatment. The gesture made me feel truly valued and pampered. Beyond that, the service, ambiance, and overall hospitality were exceptional. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the hotel’s amenities were top-notch. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxurious and welcoming stay in Athens. Thank you to the entire team for making my birthday so special🥰

The staff welcomes you with a smile and a desire to help from the moment you walk in the beautiful lobby. The rooms are very large for Europe and well appointed. The bed is super comfortable with extra pillow and blanket in the closet if you are a pillow lover like I am! The bathrooms are also oversized, which again, is unusual for European hotels. The bathroom includes a bidet. The tub is a little narrow, especially if you are taking a shower. I love that they have done away with single use toiletries. Their pump versions are very nice. I was lucky to get upgraded to a suite with a very nice living room AND a bedroom with a king sized bed. The pool tends to get crowded so go early if you want a good spot.

This was my wife and I's first Intercontinental experience and it was amazing. The view of Acropolis from the higher floors and the Club Lounge was extraordinary. The staff at the Club Lounge check-in were very accommodating and friendly providing tips on transportation, things to see, places to ear and bar to drink at. The hotel has 2 or 3 restaurants onsite and if you walk you can find some food on the Leof Andrea Siggrou street adjacent to the hotel. The metro station is about a 10 minute walk which provides easy access to Acropolis, Plaka and Ermou street. Uber us also about 6 euros from the hotel to Ermou street area. The Club Lounge had good breakfast options and beverage selections.

We spent 2 nights at the Athenaeum Intercontinental (IHG) in Athens, Greece, pre cruise. We made our way to Acropolis Hill to see the Parthenon, The Theater Of Dionysus, and the Erechtheion. History permeates every step. The Athenaeum was very nice!! They kindly upgraded us on arrival to Club Level. The Lobby was spacious and clean, the desk had several people helping everyone! The Concorde’s was helpful with tour recommendations. The location is about 10 min by taxi from the Acropolis. We had a beautiful view of the Acropolis from the wonderful rooftop restaurant, Premier!! I’d definitely stay here again, especially pre or post cruise.
