I chose Sealed Earth to celebrate my birthday on December 28th with a private ceramics workshop a group of 7 in total. From the very beginning, communication was friendly — I visited the studio beforehand, we discussed the details, had a nice coffee together, and I paid a deposit. The space itself is beautiful and inspiring, and we were kindly allowed to bring our own decorations and cake. The studio also provided wine and a cheese platter, which added to the atmosphere. On the day of the event, we were warmly welcomed, and the instructor started off very well — she was friendly, helpful, and guided us through the first steps of working with clay. Thanks to her, everyone was able to create something nice, even without any previous experience. However, things began to fall short as the session progressed. Originally, we had agreed on a morning workshop, but it was rescheduled to the evening. It felt like the instructor was in a rush to leave; she was often on her phone and stopped responding to our questions with the same attention. We also had to go to the kitchen ourselves to pour wine and snacks for everyone. While this may not be a big issue for some, I personally expected to fully enjoy the creative experience without having to take care of logistics, especially during a birthday celebration. After the initial firing of our pieces, we were told they would be glazed according to our chosen colors and be ready within 15 days — as also written in their email. However, due to the holidays, we were told it might take up to 3 weeks, which we understood and accepted. I contacted them exactly one month later (January 27), but only received confirmation that the pieces were ready on February 17 — nearly seven weeks later. Unfortunately, upon collecting the items, we discovered that some of the pieces were either glazed in the wrong colors, missing their final finish, or had been mixed up. A few pieces were even misplaced or nearly lost. As of today (May 25), we still haven’t received the remaining items. To be fair, Sealed Earth is one of the most prominent ceramic studios in Athens, with a great reputation, exhibitions, and talented international instructors. I truly respect their artistic work. However, I felt that our group — as newcomers simply looking to celebrate a special day and create meaningful souvenirs — was not treated with the same level of care and attention. None of us felt like returning for another class. And that’s the real disappointment — we came in full of joy and left feeling disregarded

I stumbled upon this unique shop while walking around the Acropolis on my last day at the city. There was a great selection of handmade ceramic artworks and giftware. I bought a 3D printed vase and they offered to send it to my home, instead of having to carry it myself at the airport. Four days later the piece arrived.

One of my favorite pottery places in Athens. I visit often to attend seminars, workshops and exhibitions. Located in a historical part of Athens, where Ancient Greek ceramic meets contemporary Greek ceramic art. The place has a fantastic vibe, a lot of attention to detail, combining a workshop, exhibition center and lovely In store and online, that I often use to send gifts to friend abroad. A place where artists and ceramic...
