Kolokotroni 9 — Restaurant in Athens

Resubmitting my review from 2022, because apparently it was removed. However I think people should beware of how this place operates.

"They tried to scam me once and then they actually scammed me the second time. The waitress made a “mistake” and charged my card for 88€ instead of 8. After I had already left, I saw notification from my bank and went back. She called the owner and after they talked, she asked me to take a seat outside and said she’ll bring the money in a moment. I found that a bit strange in the moment, I mean, she was right there at the counter, why not just give me the money there? But anyway, I went outside and waited. After about 2-4 minutes she came and gave me 80€ in cash, a 50, 20 and 10. I just put it in my wallet and left. 11 days later I wanted to use the 50€ bill at a kiosk, because their terminal was not working - and the guy tells me it’s fake. I was shocked, wondering where did I get this fake bill, and then I remembered the cafe incident.

The next day I went to the cafe to talk with someone about it, ended up talking with the owner on the phone - and he tells me that too much time has passed and that for all he knows - I am just a stranger. - and he can not change the bill. They say they test all bills, but I know this is not true, because I’ve visited the place several times and I have seen how they work. And if it were true, it proves nothing, because they also drew on it today and it did not take! But it’s still a fake bill. And if they do “test their bills”, then that proves even more that they INTENTIONALLY gave me a fake bill. Because it came definitely from them. Either because of some money laundering scheme or because someone gave it to them and they wanted to get rid of it. For all I know, the owner might have been the initiator of it all - he sounded very unbothered and arrogant on the phone and thinking back, it was very suspicious that she asked me to wait outside. I haven’t had any other cash in my wallet for months....

Small place but extremely cozy and friendly. Even tho we said that we were going to be 10 pers they did everything to find a place for us. We all enjoyed our cocktails and most of us doubled them. Despite it’s location you definitely avoid the craziness of the area. A truly proper bar. As for the music, we were all surprised.
