Clear recommendation for anyone interested in more than just the cultural history of Meteora.
Our expectations were not too high when we went there, after all the museum is free and we didn't see it very much advertisement compared to the monasteries. I'm happy to say that we were wrong, the little museum is a lovely gem. Over two floors it displays: (1) various rocks found across all of Greece, with descriptions how different types of rocks form and how they are shaped. (2) The reconstructed geological history of Meteora.
If you don't know anything about rocks or geology, this museum got you covered. It takes great care to - in clear and basic terms - explain the scientific basics of rock formation, weathering, and geological activity: everything you need to know to understand the subsequent explanation of how Meteora came to be. A lot of thought was put into the design of this museum and whoever created in took great care to make it understandable even if you don't know anything about the topic. Everything is illustrated with colorful graphics that help in the explanations. I applaud the passionate educator(s) behind it. Descriptions are in Greek...
