We visited the Archaeological Museum in Kos City out of interest in history. While it was a nice experience, the €10 entry fee feels a bit steep for what’s on display. €5 (or even €2.50 on a discounted day) would be more reasonable, though I do understand that maintaining a museum like this comes with costs.
The exhibits are interesting—if the artifacts are genuine, it’s quite something to see pieces of ancient history in person. There’s some repetition in what you’ll see, but there are also plenty of information panels to give background and context.
The elevator was out of service during our visit, which made it hard to get around with a baby stroller. Definitely not ideal if you’re visiting with small children or have mobility needs.

Walking through the museum I had a dozen of ideas about how the exhibits could become more alive and interesting for the thousands of adults and kids visiting the museum. On an island with millions of visitors each year it is a shame the local municipality not being able nor even willing to find the inspiration to create a museum worth the island's history and culture. One more time the Greek authorities prove themselves incapable of proudly holding and promoting of their heritage. As you enter a lively mosaic floor welcomes you , about arrival of Asklepios to Kos .Two more galleries and an addition to that two more upstairs . Entrance fee is only 3 Euros , but if you are into history it is definitely worth it . You can take photos without flash . It is right in the Center , close to cafes , old town and shopping area . People working in there are generally ladies and they are extremely polite . Nearby there are the ruins of agora , free entry . There is also an asklepion 5 km away from downtown , lack of time we could not get there but if you do have time make sure you do that .
