We came here on our first night of our holiday and thought it was amazing including the staff being so accommodating and welcoming. We thought we would come again in our final night here at Kos. From the moment we got there the service was terrible we waited 15 minutes for the menu which when we eventually got it we had to ask the server which he then sighed. He took our order very quickly and didn’t seem happy at all. The food wasn’t as good either. My partner went for the gyros and said the meat was fatty and not a lot of chicken. My food wasn’t chicken souvlaki and was very bland. In comparison to the first night it was a huge let down and left us disappointed. We got to start garlic bread, dolmades, & mozzarella sticks, then for mains we got chicken souvlaki and chicken gyros. We hope anybody who does eat here has a better experience

Nice location by the harbour in Kos Town. We booked via Facebook and the restaurant was very responsive and got us booked in quickly on the day. The food was very nice, but the service was somewhat slow. We waited about an hour and 15 mins for our food to arrive and the kids were getting a little fidgety. It was busy at the time to be fair though. That said, there were good options for the kids menu and we visited for my daughter's birthday and the kids got a free small ice cream with the bill. Would return, as food was nice, but would hope for a slightly faster service next time.

Socrates is a fabulous sea front restaurant with fantastic, friendly staff and amazing food. We were advised to try the Socrates steak, and it certainly did not disappoint! It’s somewhat of a spectacle when it is brought out smoking, and taken around the outside of the restaurant like a parade! Everyone both in and out of the restaurant looked on in fascination every time one came out, drawn in by the amazing smell! It didn’t just look good though, it was really delicious. A must visit for your steak whilst in Kos!

I ordered mussels saganaki and garlic bread from appetizers the mussels were not what i ordered the chef made a mistake and instead of making the proper one he Just threw a sause above pretending that is saganaki the garlic bread was old bread toasted with garlic cream on top. Also i tried tomato soup "velute" although it wasnt a fresh one they mixed water with canned tomato paste apparently thats why it was "velute"as for the main dishes my girlfriend had the mix gyros plate and i had the special steak plate chicken gyros was close to raw the pita bread soaked In oil as for the steak i think at this tavern is more the show off rather its food, small portion i mean seriously for a steak it was tiny and like a Rubber the garniture soaked In vinegar for some reason plus it came with a wannabe Pepper sause it wasnt really a Pepper sause the mixed mayo and ketcup and added Pepper inside... Awww and for closure the prices they came from a different planet apparently wayyyyyyy to high prices for the food that they have. I wouldnt suggest this place to...

Disappointing Experience – Overpriced Tourist Trap

We dined here recently and were unfortunately left very underwhelmed. We started with the saganaki cheese, which was a huge letdown. It clearly wasn’t fresh – rubbery in texture and turned cold almost instantly, with barely any coating. The Greek salad was average at best, lacking any dressing, which made it quite dry.

For mains, we ordered the pork gyros (open plate), but the pork was far too fatty and the pita breads were soggy, which made the dish quite unpleasant. When I politely mentioned to the waiter that the saganaki was rubbery, he dismissed the feedback entirely, saying, “Ours is the best of the best.” There was no apology or willingness to acknowledge the concern, which came off as rude and unprofessional.

Overall, this place feels like a classic tourist trap—overpriced for the quality of food and service provided. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic or enjoyable Greek...

April 1 2025 My wife and I ordered a platter for two, and a chicken souvlaki for pickup. Upon sitting to our table, I began to eat my salad, when I noticed it was only half full, thought nothing of it, until I saw my wife's salad. her salad was full to the top, covered with cheese and a olive on top, and I began digging for my olive as I always do, and guess what I found? I found a olive pit! that tells me someone had eaten part of that salad. Needless to say I became sick to my stomach. This is not good enough, thinking I could get sick from this salad. You should eat at some other place. whom ever eat part of that salad, should be fired and Socrates should be responsible, no one should be putting half eaten food back in the fridge. I am 74 years old, and not looking for a free meal. This the last time we will eat at this place. This the third complaint I have written, and the last, please be careful, stay healthy. We picked up the order at 5pm on...
