We had an amazing experience at Happy Flamingo Beach, it has by far the best beach infrastructure not only in Tigaki but also everywhere else we visited in Kos. Just some things we loved about it:
A big selections of equipment you can borrow free of charge, for adults and children: paddleboards (SUP), floating loungers, water toys etc. Sunbeds are big and comfortable, the umbrella provides more than enough shade during the whole day, there is enough space to store everything (a table and a chair), curtains protect you from wind on a windy day Sunbeds are not too close together (on a lot of other beaches they're cramped together) so you can have more privacy Private changing rooms that include a shower Toilets are clean and spacious: the ladies' toilet includes free amenities such as tampons and pads which is a nice gesture Other amenities such as shampoo, shower gel, sunscreen, books...
We had lunch in a nearby restaurant (a few minutes' walk) but you can also eat at the beach (order from a menu and they bring the meals to you).
The only thing we didn't love was the sea, it's shallow and there is a lot of seaweed, but it's like that everywhere in Tigaki (we preferred beaches near Kefalos). It's still a nice beach, however, sandy and would be especially nice for children.
All in all, when you're at Happy Flamingo Beach, you can clearly see how much effort and thought had been put into creating and decorating everything we mentioned, even the sign that advertises the beach is beautifully made :) The price is fair for what you get, 15 EUR for 2 beds and 1 umbrella for the day (June 2024). Especially when you consider that a lot of nearby beaches charge roughly the same and all you get is two beds and a small umbrella, not even a toilet.
We highly recommend visiting if you're...
Read moreWestern Tigaki beach - beach for active people. All the sun beds on Tigaki's beach is probably thousand but only here are double pad-pillows;) Contrary to appearances, well located if you like to do something nice on the beach. For example, walk to the salt lake to look for flamingoes or towards the river and follow the wild beach .. Wi-fi at the price of 6 euros provides probably all beaches but none has so much added value as Happy flamingo beach: regular size toilet, shower, changing room, wind and sun protection, SUP board with two paddles, mattresses, cookies and cherries, extra chairs, balls, rockets and children sand toys. Happy Flamingo Beach has also a sofa area, coverd parking for bicycles, car and motor parking, strong handle for bags and woodden platform paths. Definitely the best prepared beach on the whole island. Sun beds are at a good distance from each other, you will not complain about the crowd. Vibrant water, sandy bottom and very gently sloping. It's hard to find faults. No sunbeds available - for this reason, gentlemen have implemented a simple booking system. If you want to have a sun bed in the first line, it's better to book in advance. For pedestrians is a bit far but if you do not have small children, pregnant wife and a lot of things - you will get in 10 minutes. The whole is complemented by: a charming kitten Milko and always ready for an interesting conversation Christos and Kimi. At the exit from the beach is one of the best taverns in Tigaki -...
Read moreThis beach looks like someone created a beach for himself, not for making money. Owned by 5 beautiful cats, their main employee is an old man, sometimes grumpy, but that goes with the greek nature(no fake american smiles), and he was always helpful and gets the job done. Umbrellas: 15e is a reasonable price, you even have rotatable curtains, a rotatable paravan, and a lockbox (+2€) available. Free: water/ground games, paddleboard, inflatables, sunscreen, normal toilet, normal covered shower/changing room, we were very surprised by the level of service provided, not even for a fee, given it costs the same as other beaches with nothing mentioned at all. Paid: Great food (gyros/grill etc) and drink delivery, a bit on the pricey side, but hey, it gets from the town to your sunbed, and it was delicious! And the sunset was worth...
