Taverne Plori — Restaurant in Municipality of Kos

Just visited the Tavern Plori. As seasoned travellers it wasn't a great experience. I am not on here to say the place is terrible. The starters and staff are very good. However, my wife ordered the Grilled Calamari, which she has eaten in many countries. It was "Rubbery" , so over cooked. She didn't eat most of the meal as she did not enjoy it. On mentioning the issue to the staff, we ensured a poor experience with the owner. He basically accused my wife of not knowing how it should be cooked, although she eaten the same dish in many countries, that was not over cooked like this example. The owner offered to replace the meal for another, she politely declined.We happily offered the cost of everything we had during the meal with a half price for the uneaten Calamari dish. The owner said he was "Insulted" by this offer. The owner continued to be unpleasant to my wife and said he didn't want any money from us due to the "Insult" . We left the money for everything we had bar the half price for the uneaten Calamari dish, feeling annoyed to the situation the owner had created. We at no point raised our voices to disturb other customers or cause offence. All we asked was to not have to pay for half of the uneaten dish. The owners customer service skills aren't great. Best restaurant we found on Kos island.

The appetizers were all good. We had pitas with 2 dips and aubergine rolls filled with meat one time and courgette, stuffed mushrooms and the aubergine rolls again cause they were so good.

I got Kleftico the first time and grilled calamari the second time. Both were cooked to perfection. Which is always impressive with squid! I got some vegitables rice and salad with my squid and I love that these we all seasoned really well! It nice when the sides get the same attention as the main. There are not a lot of vegetarian options for the mains but my friend had the penne with vegetables and we alle tasted and loved it.

The staff is clearly proud of the food and rightly so! Also they are friendly not only to the people but also to the cats. In contrast with some other restaurants we visited. They wil shoo them if needed but in a gentle way. There are also 3 dogs present who are super sweet.

I can't recommend enough!! We also reserved as it was a weekend day. But we are still in the pre season so I think making a reservation is...

Highly recommend the sautéed liver with mustard starter 👌 We visited three times during our recent holiday. The first night i had chicken souvlaki and my partner had pork tenderloin with mushroom sauce, both dishes were excellent ,tasted great and presented well, 2nd visit I had the chicken souvlaki again because it was so good the first time and my partner had the mussels in a mustard sauce again both dishes perfect. We chose Plori for our 3rd visit because it was our last night we both had the grilled calamari, it was the nicest calamari we have ever had everybody needs to try this if we had another night we would have gone back and had it again. The best restaurant in Tigaki and that's a huge compliment because there is some very good ones. Hopefully we will be back...
