Atlantis Beach Hotel & Spa — Attraction in Municipality of Rethymnon

We were really spoiled here, as we indulged in the amenities this beautiful hotel with its wonderful staff have to offer! The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were quick to help us with minor problems such as a flickering bathroom light.

Very decent wifi speed, that you can access in the rooms, in the dining area, on the beach ... total luxury!

Very friendly staff who get to know you over the days, and who have a good sense of humour. They really seem to like their jobs and are polite, friendly and so very helpful. Was a total pleasure to stay here.

The pool is great to use when not feeling like a sandy beach day, or if the ocean waves are a bit too fierce. Warm and clean, with not too many people using it. Always a sun bed available, in shade or in sunlight as you prefer. Excellent pool-side and beach-side drinks & food service. You never feel like you are being charged too much. All is reasonably priced.

Used the free gym every day. Was very happy it was free, as well as the sun beds on the beach, as I had read differently in the reviews before hand. While the times are not amazingly convenient for the average fitness person(10-19), it was really great to have access to the air conditioned facilities, especially when it was already a bit too hot for running early in the morning. The gym is small but has everything you need. I was always there alone or with one other person. The machines are practical and the treadmill seemed quite new. Good selection of weights. Absolutely ideal for a holiday workout session.

We had both breakfast and dinner included in our stay. We were so lucky we did this! Endless coffee served, and a brilliant selection of food, rivalling Swedish hotellfrukost. Every day there is a slightly different selection of hot and cold foods. Always there is yoghurt, delicious cheeses, many olive varieties, fresh breads, and fresh fruits. Sliced watermelons among them, kiwis, peaches, plums, all so juicy and sweet and delicious.

Dinner was really well laid out and well-thought through. Every night was a different selection of hot meals (and we stayed 7 nights), with quite a few options of salads. The same lovely selection of olives, cheeses, breads and fruits as breakfast, along with many varieties of delicious and beautifully laid out desserts. Baklava, jelly with fruit, cheese cakes, sponge cakes, and ice cream available.

We rented a car for 2 days, and this was very easy and convenient. Car delivered to the hotel, free parking behind, and no fuss pick up, we left the keys at reception when we were finished.

The hotel has seen better days! Room 213 smells as if the toilet was broken. The hotel looks and feels dated with wall paper peeling of the boring, pale walls without decorations and furniture in need of a replacement so I guess the pipes are possibly in dire need of draining as well. There is no lift. This was no problem for us but if you're having problems with climbing stairs, make sure the hotel doesn't put you on the 3rd floor. Unfortunately the dinner was also quite a disappointment. There are lots of choices but the quality offered is more of a cantine type than a 5* establishment. Boring, tasteless and without imagination (actually worst food we've had in our entire stay in Greece). I've skipped the second evening heading for better choices in town... Additionally, we didn't like the Covid-19 process and compared to other hotels the Atlantis does a poor job. Instead of one person leading you through the buffet, you're handed over to several people handling the separate stations = you have to wait for the person to be free + your plate is unnecessarily touched by many people rather than just one (or none if you could hold the plate yourself). Also you need to sit and wait to be called to the buffet = you're often forgotten even if no one is being served inside. Moreover, none of the guests have to wear any masks = the Greek staff is protected while the guests may as well infect each other by standing and waiting to be handed over to another station... Again, other hotels are much better operationally. The stars are for the restaurant staff who tirelessly try to smile and be helpful even though the whole Covid-19 situation makes their job so much harder than under normal circumstances. Anything we asked for, these guys tried to accommodate. Also, the location was perfect with a sandy beach (albeit a narrow one) accross the street and a relaxing pool in the patio. Far enough from the town's noise but close enough to be reached by strolling along the shore. WiFi is slow. To summarize: Very good choice for 2-3 nights while visiting the town of Rethymno if you eat in town and don't spend too much...

The hotel's dining options were also fantastic. We enjoyed delicious meals at the on-site restaurants, where the culinary offerings were diverse, and the ambiance was delightful.
