We drive 30 minutes to go to Hatzidakis Winery based on the reviews. We arrived 6/23/23 around 1 pm. We didn’t have a reservation and there were two other couples in the tasting room. We started our tasting. The young lady was very informative and very kind to answer questions and tell us about the winery. Within 15 minutes we were the only couple and had her full attention. Then, just before our last sample, our lady walked away, a tour of 14 and a private tour of two arrived. The private guide started taking the couple through the winery immediately. After 20 minutes we went to the desk to request our 6th pour. The gentleman came over, said it was their dessert wine and walked away. After another 20 minutes, the no one returned. When we asked again for assistance, they said we could wait and take a tour with the group of 14. We left after waiting.
Hatzidakis, I am glad your guides have found you. We did not buy any wine for no one returned to our table. You had our $50...
Read moreThe most authentic wine tasting in Santorini in my opinion. Being a Greek, wanted to avoid the tourist character of other wineries and concentrate on the Santorini tastes other than the Caldera views. This winery really excels on this. At the moment of writing we paid 16€ for a selection of 6 wines tastings and a starter cheese & dakos plate. The entire selection of wines was majestic. The Mavrotragano & Nihteri offered were favourite ones. Of course the Visanto, was among of the best ones I have tried in Santorini — would greatly suggest getting a bottle.
Really great explanation of the wines characteristics and the wine portions were on the generous side.
Definitely recommending paying a visit on this winery should you wish to have an authentic wine tasting far from the crowds.
NOTE: having tried to call through google maps, I was not able to reach someone for a booking — however when arriving we got served immediately with no waiting and...
Read moreThis is a special place. I did the Premium Tour and strongly recommend it for anyone even moderately interested in wine (and beginners will have all their questions answered too).
They spent 2.5hs with me (total including the tasting) explaining the history, vineyard, their wine production process, and cave. Every question I asked was patiently answered. The people are fun and VERY well-informed (exactly what you want when you are spending a good amount of time with them!). The team's pride in producing wines showcasing the soul of Santorini is evident in their attention to detail, creative thinking, and excitement to explain it all to you. Traditionalists to new age natural wine drinkers will feel at home.
Many know that Santorini wine production has been impacted by tourism growth and changing climate patterns. No better way to support the industry than giving this place the attention...
