Avlogyros — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

This was by far our favorite restaurant in Megalochori and Santorini. My husband and I ate here three times (twice for dinner and once for lunch) during our 5-night visit to the island. The family owned restaurant serves flavorful, fresh, authentic Greek cuisine. All items are family recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. With only 3 family members running the place, service can sometimes feel slow. But the food is prepared with so much care and love, that you immediately forget the wait and remember that you are on vacation to relax and enjoy a slower pace of life. Our favorite item, by far, and what we ordered repeatedly, was the lamb kebab. We enjoyed other items we ate as well, such as the meat platter for two and the Saganaki shrimp, and recommend that you try them as well. During dinner service, the restaurant serves a delicious semolina cake drenched in syrup as a complimentary special treat along with your bill. If you are in the mood for more dessert, order their baklava... it is amazing and the spices they add to it make it unlike any other baklava that we have tried in the past. We will be recommending this restaurant to our friends and hope to dine here again on our next trip...

This restaurant is a scam! Went there with our family for dinner. At the end of our meal, we noticed a few disgruntled patrons, with one lady repeatedly asking the owner for change. The owner pretended not to understand her. When it was our turn to pay, we understood why—apparently her credit card machine was “broken” which would have been nice to know at the outset. We were expected to come out of pocket nearly a hundred Euros after racking up fees and conversions costs at the ATM. Come to find out after reading these reviews, the broken credit card terminal seems to be just a way to get people to pay cash. What a gem of a place! Avlogyros is a beautiful little restaurant with what felt like a huge heart. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed, setting the tone for a truly special dining experience. The atmosphere was buzzing—which, as they say, is always a good sign!

We ordered a few different dishes to share and savour the variety, and every bite was exquisite. The flavours, presentation, and care that went into the food were simply wonderful. This place radiates warmth, passion, and authenticity....
